I must say that a certain white rabbit has really been inside-out since the Coffee ^2 had an impact on him. Now I know how it feels being controlled by anything so druggy, it's nuts. Having said that, things have taken quite the PG-rated twist in these comics lately. Maybe Alfred Hitchcock had more nerve to shoot a movie with extra-disturbing material, making the characters really lose their charm. But don't take my word for it. Surely, Brian Jacques avoided extremes worth of Redwall and Martin The Warrior.

Conversely, it could be argued that Ernie was right. It wasn't Coffee^2 that was wholly responsible, it was merely a catalyst for latent abilities that Cotton already possessed. There are several arguments against his being 'controlled' which I won't make unless asked, but given the attention to detail I've seen so far in the strip, surely there might have been an obvious clue or two. Aside from not noticing the telekinetic episodes and related phenomena (would you notice if your lung capacity suddenly expanded?), he seemed to be portrayed as completely lucid.
I would argue against his being controlled, but drugged...that's another story. There was the human in the black car that agreed that yes, he should be more careful, and he wasn't looking at the crowd when he said it. My guess is that Cotton was off to stage right.
As for the decided PG twist, if I may be allowed an opinion this is not a bad thing. It takes the inhabitants of Furriston and makes them people, not anthropomorphic personifications. There are lots of 'cute' furries. They're a dime a dozen. 'Real' ones are harder to find. Gene...keep doing what you're doing
------------------
One day I will find Bill Gates. When I do, I will say to him,
'Hallo. My name is Ludo Montoya. You killed my network. Prepare to die.'

Hmm, I see your point, Ludo (sp?). It's just that some artists (who may've been friends of mine) have turned to impressing mature/adult fan in the most immature manner, that it makes me think twice about them even if it means having to make some hard decisions about. It could be I've somehow underestimated the true colours of anthropomorphic paraphernalia.
