How it all starts?!?!??! (repost from Jack forum)
It started with a simple reference from a friend of mine at work. I work at a major ISP in Houston. (without giving it away.. we're the largest) So between calls, I do what youd expect of someone working at an internet company would do. I browse. Bored one day, a friend offered me a place to find more comics to feed my insatiable comic desire. Some place with lots of comics... some about furries, whatever the hell those are. On to keenspot.. blah, I dont want anything all innocent.. I need something with sex, mature stuff. A quick browse down the lists to find the ones that contain a M and a V, definately a N. LOL.. (hehe I might give Kit and Kay a run.. im a yiff monster ) Hmmm Jack.. Interesting.. Kit and Kay Boodle.. hmmm that site definately fits the N and M ratings.
A week later.. "Arwen, you've got to read this comic. Its called Jack.. its awesome." "Specially the Tet and Trixi arc"
Two weeks later.. *Everyone in the office* "Whoa Brian.. that site is incredible, Ive read the entire site" Meanwhile.. as I sit and tap my arm vein feening for more Jack, I find Im more and more drawn in. The furry world huh? A game based around playing a furry? Wish I could play at work. Forums? Oh wow.. Dave puts extra stuff here.. and some nice people post. Cool.. I'll read them every chance I get.
hahah Kit and Kay is gettin yiffy with it.. ( and a few others too)
A month ago.. woohoo.. found some of Daves older stuff.. Argh, terrorism!! A black day indeed.
Since then we've been forced to get on with our lives, which I've done, although I've not forgotten. I turned my bad attitude around at work, and someone noticed. A promotion, no raise mind you, but Im in charge now. (nothing like twice the responsibility at half the pay)
A few weeks ago:
Ahhh poor Arloest.. whos the bunny and the black cat? Gene Catlow.. I better check this out.
Today: Hmm havent checked Kit and Kay in a while.. Hmm need to go back to yiff fest beginning. OMG.. THATS PEPE, AND KARMA, AND GENE, AND CW..TET!!! TRIXI.. HOLY SHIT.. I recognize EVERY couple there
My gawds.. Ive become a furry.. how did this happen? When? I've become hopelessly lost in the furry world. Thanks Dave, and KatEllis, and Albert (if those two read this), and all you others that post here. I love all the work I've seen and can't get enough. What am I to do now?
I guess Ill ask a few questions. Are there any places to see the other chars in their respective strips? Like CW.. and Tet and Trixi..or Karma? I want to know all about them. And now, Im gonna spend the next two weeks getting caught up with Gene's newest guest star, Sunblaze.
*sigh*

------------------

*chuckle* Well, some are born furry... others
have furryness thrust upon them. ^_^ As for
those you've mentioned, and their work: my
lady cat doesn't have an online comic per se
(at least not so far as I know, she can be
quite sneaky!) but she does have some art
online now on VCL: http://vcl.ctrl-c.liu.se/vcl/Artists/CatsWhisker
(She had to be offline for awhile... long story,
and not a very happy one, but she's back
online now!) Tet and Trixi: they are both
artists, Trixi doesn't think she's very good
(she IS, though!) and Tet declaimes talent of
any kind, but their art can best be found,
right now, on Yerf: http://www.yerf.com/lewicand/index.htm http://www.yerf.com/dwearyan/index.htm
But there's a better place to find their
newer works, it may be difficult to reach at
the moment, however. Tet is a super-skilled
co-partner of a high-tech company of his own,
and he and Trixi put together their own art-
and story archive, the Yiffnet Attic: http://www.solfire.com/yna/
However, Tet and Trixi (after many RL trials
and tribulations) are now together iRL and
are busy with their new life, so the site is
down for awhile. Check it once it's back up
and you'll see some of their cooler stuff.
Karma: also on VCL, and also (along with her
Pepe who, now that they are together iRL
also, are busily embarking on a new life as
well) an excellent artist, had a webcomic
started as well, you can check it on VCL: http://vcl.ctrl-c.liu.se/vcl/Artists/Karma-Leafbarer
Hopefully she'll get the chance to get it
going again, and maybe bring it to Keenspace.
There, that should be enough to keep you
going for awhile.

Well, hopefully it will be a healthy addiction.
And you're more than welcome! I'm very honored
to be able to point a new fan to the excellent

CarlFox's advice and check The Belfry, where
a wider range of creativity than I could even
begin to list here can be found.

Welcome to the fold, oh wanderer. Embrace your furriness.
Just watch the claws.
As for me, the first time I encountered furrydom was a long, long time ago when personal computers were still a gleam in an inventor's optics and an internet had nothing to do with linking computers. For years, since before I could remember, I had a subscription to a magazine called Ranger Rick. It was a magazine meant to make kids aware of the natural world and the need to preserve it. Sure, there were articles, the letter column, etc., but the best part for me were the stories, one per issue, about the adventures of Ranger Rick Raccoon and his woodland friends (only rarely would a human get more than a bit part) as they, in a kid-friendly format, pointed out environmental problems and steps already being taken to solve them. I got Ranger Rick for many years until I left for college, at which time my subscription ended.
Even though I encountered books such as Redwall and Bambi and liked humanless animated TV series (Tale Spin and Darkwing Duck to name a couple) before college, it was not until I attended my first year of college in Denver (1993-1994) that I discovered Vicky Wyman's Xanadu and then realized that I was indeed a furry.
Nowadays, I look for furry comics over human-filled ones, the three primary ones being: Furrlough, a monthly anthology of furry stories; Usagi Yojimbo, the adventures of a rabbit samurai; and Sonic the Hedgehog, based off the super-speedy Sega game critter.
As for the primary reason I broke my week-long silence to babble here? Does anyone know whatever happened to Ranger Rick??
------------------
TARDIS EXPRESS - When it absolutely, positively needs to be there yesterday.
[This message has been edited by CyberCorn Entropic (edited 10-25-2001).]

It's a long story, but you could say my introduction into the furry world began when I learned to enjoy reading, from there I read lots of books and I eventually found the redwall series, which through a chain of events led me to yerf, which led me to scotty arsenault, which led me to webcomics, and as a sidetrack a friend of mine introduced me to a redwall club called the silver garrison.

Addictive, isn't it?
If you're looking for more furry strips, check out www.belfry.com, and click on "Furry Comics". If it isn't on there...well, most likely, it means the webmaster hasn't stumbled over it yet. The ones with the stars next to them (which, you'll note, 'Gene Catlow' is one) are some of the best the Net has to offer.
Hmm...I'll have to catch Trixi on IRC one of these days to get their new address - glad to hear they finally were able to get together.
KFM!
Wow.. Im impressed cyber, if by saying welcome wanderer, you know what my name means.
Gene, I would definately think its a good addiction. I guess that would kinda be the joke.. best one I can think of. (Well Im still debating whether eq is good or bad) Definately least expensive. Now that Im at home.. I might just actually make the picture..
I see the world, and I see it through a pair of fuzzy eyes.
------------------

Geners! *BLUSH* You are far far too nice to me! I will admit that my stuff's gotten a little bit better, but that's only because I have such great friends to help me (you, Kev, Dingus, Fuzzy). My only regret is that we won't get to hang out "whenever" anymore (trust me, the 3000 mile commute is a doozy!)
As for the comic thing.. well, er, I'm kindasorta gonna try and jump on the bandwagon and start a comic strip. (*ulp!*) Won't be about Tet and Trixi, though, and I'm only a beginner, so it's just a fun story I've been dying to tell whenever I can get that coveted stuff known as time. <:>
You and Kevin and Pepe and Karma and Katellis absolutely amaze me.. I'm so afraid I won't be able to keep up with creating strips, or thinking of storylines, or heck, everything!
How do you do it? x.x
(and yeh, I agree.. CW would do an awesome awesome strip. :>)

*sigh* Yeah, that *is* a bit of a stretch. My

Joel Chandler Harris once said that the big
question anyone who was into storytelling had
to ask themselves was: "Do you love the tale?"
That, for me (and for just about everyone who
has created works that I like) is the basis
for how it gets done. When you love to do tell
stories, you'll become a good storyteller.

Jack.
The comic strip Jack.
And, what I call "The Dark Side Of Gene". (Don't ask.) I saw something . . . rather revealing on another message board and comic strip, so I just had to come back, and see what's been happening in these message boards!
Hakuna Matata!
'Tah
------------------
