Keep the plastic smile and pretend they're not talking with him?

What is humanity?
That depends...

What are we famous/notorious for?

I would say, the one thing for which humans are famous and notorious, is the ability to choose how we behave.
No other life form, I believe, can choose to do good or to do evil. Only humanity. That choice is our birthright, to use or abuse as each of us sees fit.

The Bob O'Link you saw in the office was the
real avian. The only drugs he's into are
caffiene and nicotine.
This little comment has made me wonder about the physiology of furs in this world. There two known users of stimulants, Cotton and Bob; however, they seem to use said stimulants for a *sedative* effect. Cotton drinks coffee "to relax". Bob seems to smoke in order to keep his wilder side in check. Note how Bob doesn't have a cigarette when he's in "manic" mode.

Cotton also used Coffee^2 to achieve an alternate state of consciousness, some that is very difficult to acquire if one is agitated. It just makes we wonder if the psychoactive drugs humans use have different effects on furries.

Without getting too technical, there are a
huge number of different physiologies on
Furriston's world, and the way that drugs
and other substances affect them could be
the subject of an entire comic in and of
itself. Gene gets to joke about his use of
catnip in his younger days, but in their
world that could be just as much a drug
abuse problem as any in our world. (Which
could be why CW disapproves so much...)

I wonder what Cotton will do if he sees Bob's true self?
If it was just by normal means, Bob might be able to make Cotton think he was seeing things.

But, what if...
Bob asks Cotton to demonstrate this 'special ability' he has. Cotton tries to tell Bob that none of the listeners will be able to "see it". Bob insists, Cotton does it, and sees Bob's true self.

I caught myself wondering how would one keep safe critical data like passwords for bank accounts... Image

Anyway, since Gene mentioned this would be a combination of ingredients, maybe Cotton doesn't do that on the air, but after the program is done, when he starts joining information together without the tension of being on the air.

But, on the other paw, it would be A LOT more embarassing and exciting if this did happen on the air! Image

Just now no one outside of Cotton's immediate
circle of friends knows he has SotS, and for
the time being it looks like it'll stay that
way. All Cotton is known for right now is for
what the Mayor stated at the last press
conference; that Cotton does indeed seem to
be able to see bits of the future. Bob may
know about the possibility that Cotton has
some other abilities, but isn't going to say
anything outright, playing up the audience's
curiosity by only hinting at "top-secret
stuff and such". If Cotton was ever curious
enough about Bob to use SotS on him, he'd be
very ticked off at what's been going
on.

What I wanna know is...

In today's comic, when talking to Rennie, Bob's hair-feathers are preened flat and is 'normal Bob.' The MOMENT he turns to look at Cotton, his hair-feathers are 'crazy-insane Bob' again. Now, I'm not an avian, so I don't know how feather control works, but... is that even possible?

(Tee hee.. had a headache on the weekend... someone's got some injured pride. )

(Psst! Mokonapuff! Do it again! Again!)

Yes. Many birds can fluff out the feathers on their crest (where the hair is on a human head). This can serve many functions from mating display to exposing dark skin to help warm up the body. Think cockatiel (I think. It's a sizeable white bird with long plumes sticking out the crest. Sometimes they lie flat on the neck/shoulders and sometimes the bird spreds them so that the first is over the eyes and maybe the beak.).
Robert can quickly turn on the "Crazy Bob" routine and then, just as quickly, switch back to plain ol' backstabbin' Robert without worrying about such things as feather gel or a comb.

Easily. Birds headfeathers act like a cat's ears in means of showing their mood. Whe angered or upset, a bird keeps it dow, but when they are happy, the headfeathers usually are up.

Huh....My parakeet must be an odd one then. She only fluffs her headfeathers when she's pissed.

Among the psitticines (sp?)--i.e., parrots, cockatoos, and their smaller cousins--the raising of the crest feathers, should they have them, is generally an indication of excitement or aggression, and sometimes of surprise or pleasure. One cockatoo I know fairly well also raises her crest in greeting, but usually when her feathers are up I watch my fingers around her. Birds can raise their feathers briefly as part of the avian form of the whole-body shake, too.

Disclaimer: the above is based on my observations while working at a pet store that specialized in birds.

Psittacines aren't the only birds who can fluff up their headfeathers. The roadrunner (the actual animal, not the cartoon character) fluffs up its feathers in the morning to warm up after the cold desert nights. Another type are the eagles, such as the one in Rescuers Down Under.

Cotton may be naive, but he is not stupid and he is not isolated from the world outside that radio booth. He will soon figure out what is going on. Boy, I am *so* looking forward to that moment...

I'm not really looking forward to the moment per se... It will be a embarassing and sad moment.
