A very good question! 0_o
Maybe they went on a vacation to the countryside to escape the monotony of their city lives, and wandered off and got lost.

Obscenely wealthy capitalist cartoon characters:
Richie Rich, or Scrooge McDuck?
(Side note! I LOVE the Simpsons theory that Casper is the ghost of Richie. "Perhaps he realized how hollow the pursuit of money is, and took his own life")

Multimillionaires

Post by Al_fayyed »

If I remember Speeding Bullets correctly, the Wayne family is driving through rural Kansas on the way to a fundraiser when the Krypton pod crashes in sight of their limousine. It's kind of creepy how the elder Wayne stores the thing in the basement of Wayne Manor.

Then again, a young Bruce Wayne witnesses his parents' death, freaks out, gets a couple bullets bounced off his chest, and heat-rays off the face of his parents' killer. He's not the Joker this time, I can tell you that.

Anyway, Scrooge McDuck is more fiscally responsible and actually a lot more fun to talk to. Not only does he have that accent, but he has great hobbies (remember the Ducktales flashback where he spent his youth learning the electric bagpipe?) and a more than superficial interest in the events of the world.

Richie Rich just seems to me a boy who revels in his godlike power to move things with money. Now, we're not going to go into how Ducktales explored the limits of power and wealth (it wasn't that deep, really), but let it be said that Scrooge often had to do more than realize that along with his pocket lint was a mad scientist's "expand-o-ray" or something.

Question

Post by Al_fayyed »

Missed the question on the first pass, and the second...
Hopefully this'll percolate through -- Keenspace hasn't let me edit my message. Grr. :x

The question should be -- Mary Cassatt or Frieda Kahlo?

Kahlo! All the way! One of my all time favorite painters.
I actually did a HUGE project on her for Art History this year...including painting a self portrait in her style. It's neato-creepy...I should take a picture of it and scan it.
heh, and I actually happened to watch Ducktales yesterday! It was a good one, in that it involved pirates, singing, and at one point singing pirates.

Dah! I HATED this bit of the story. First up, Kal-el didn't get his powers until his late teens-early 20s. They don't just get turned on by an adrenaline rush.

Also, a bigger beef, the heat-ray thing should never have happened. The whole reason Bruce became the Batman is because the little kid stood impotently by as his parents were shot, and felt a need to throw out some vengeance as an adult. If he lashes back at the criminal instantly, he's already acted on vengeance. The little kid actually made a difference, and is not helpless, and tht helplessness is what molded the Batman.

Aside from that, cool concept. I think Speeding Bullets was the first official Elseworlds title-bearing novel, actually.

Hovercrafts, because they're amphibious. kinda.

No question?
Let's see..

Dah?

Also, yeah. I'm not sure why "Dah!" came up at the beginning of both my last couple posts. It's honestly not a word I use too often. And for good reason.

Almost! Her husband Diego Rivera was a famous Mexican muralist.
Kahlo mostly did self portraits, and she's usually filed with the Surrealist movement because she tended to get into bizarre/disturbing imagery.
I like her a lot.
And I agree with you, Justin, that the whole alternate scenario is pretty contrary to Batman's basic motivations...I don't pretend to have a really extensive knowledge of superhero comics (never really been my field!) but I like to think I'm familiar with them at a basic level.
They don't just get turned on by an adrenaline rush.

Heh, that's like adding the Hulk into this superhero mix!
And I guess we need a new "this or that" if this is gonna keep rolling...

K! I choose er, Lois! Becuase dude, she's Lois. April was kind of hot to a nine-year-old version of me, but she was basically just a cheap Lois knockoff.

Dine in. It's one of my favorite ways to "go out". With some of the restaurants down here, it becomes a significant event, lemme tell ya!

I say Logan's Run, though it'll probably become kind of depressing as I get older.

No answer?

Well, guess I'll have to answer that one myself, then.

I'd choose Tammi and tell her to get a clue. Plus put her daughter up for adoption or something..
Jean Paul, I'm glad I've never ever heard of someone like him, but.. good question.

No answer there because the forum really hasn't been functional for a couple days!
I saw the question before the board crapped out, but I decided long ago in this game I have to pass on the ones that are between my own characters, and leave them for someone else.
...
Inside.
