As I've said in another post (and, strangely, wasn't shot at), everybody REALLY needs to laugh right about now. I know I'D keep posting my comic - if, of course, it was already being posted.
Of course, that's just me. As long as no-one's pressuring anyone to feel like anyone else, everything's cool.
So to speak.
--josh

thanx for the support...
i agree we've seen enough horror and everybody needs to laugh again...
but i just drew a sad, out-of-continuity, tragedy-related comic this afternoon and it's gonna be up tomorrow. regular storyline continues again the next day - i'm not shutting down for any lousy terrorists. i'm sorry, i just had to do it. i couldn't concentrate on anything else until i did. now that it's out of my system i feel a lot better.
i understand what you're saying about escapism, because doing my comics is my escape. i just had to deal with this at least once in the comic world before i could go back to the normal comics.

That's cool. Everyone's gotta deal with it somehow. Personally, I spent all day, even in class, working on my comics and playing my guitar (and Dan's electric...I TOTALLY need an electric guitar).
JPSloan gets kudos for saying "cognizant" (hands-down the least used word on the internet), seven Grammer Points for using "cranial" as an adjective, and bonus marks for having a username that would make a great name for a rock band.
--josh h.

...for continuing to run comics after all this horrible tragedy? i know that a lot of people are observing 'moments of silence', not running comics for the rest of the week, or running something commemorative instead of a comic.
after a lot of thought yesterday, i decided not to do that. all this has really scared me. i was so paranoid that i couldn't concentrate in class today. i'm kind of taking the stance that 'the show must go on' - i have to keep making my comics or i'll just get even more distressed and depressed. and i have them ready to go in advance anyway.

No no no.
I can't begin to tell you how much hell I've been catching from people on my Yahoo groups because of my initial posts after the news hit. I have a tendency to immediately stop when something happens and fully play out the ramifications.
Maybe I'm just overly cranial. Maybe it's because I have a history degree, and am perfectly cognizant of how important yesterday was to the human experience.
But people shut me down yesterday and told me I should stop "philosophizing" and let them deal with the stuff in peace... that is, without my going on about what it means to America and speculating as to how it will affect us.
I even had one person tell me "shut up and pray".
What if that's the way I deal with sudden shocking news? Is my way any less valid?
Furthermore, I've seen several people expressing gratitude that certain cable channels didn't patch into live news feeds or go off the air with their "screensaver condolence". They had seen enough, and wanted diversion. I mean, we can only cram so much of this into us before we start to brain-fry.
Even yet furthermore, laughter has a healing effect. So does reading. Especially if you care about characters you're following. It's a therapeutic escapism.
And even totally furthestmore, what is it these terrorists wanted to accomplish? Terror. Fear. Halting American life. If we all close up shop and feed into this thing, what better way is there to insure it will happen again?
Whew.
So, to wrap up, I encourage you not to feel the slightest qualm about keeping it running. You are to be commended.

Brr...
I did a web search on my own name once, and the first four hits on the browser were of this guy in Virginia named Jason Sloan who is a new age musician. Maybe I can start that rock band and show him who the real Slim Shady is... er, I mean... nevermind.
