Wow! Our locals were so overwhelmed here in lil' ol' Fresno, Ca, that we seriously just got one comic apiece.

I dragged my brother, a niece, and a nephew to my favorite shop, and they each picked out three free books each. The kids seemed really happy to go.

I'd been saving all of the $1 bills I'd received as change over the last month, so that I'd have some cash on hand to spend at the shops today. When all was said and done, I'd saved about $50 for the cause. I'm now back down to a single bill. Got me two volumes of Strangers in Paradise and the complete Jimmy Corrigan, plus a Superhero Showdown Punisher figure, which I've wanted for awhile now, for just $5.

There's a little bit of an active cartoonist community in the town where I live. Maybe next years, I'll get the gumption up to organize a sampler to put out on the free tables, to make a local indie showing.

Yeah, I put out some promo cards at the big place, and I picked up yet another Sojourn #28 at the smaller place that didn't have much of a new selection. My biggest haul was on heavyink.com, where I picked up the X-Men: Second Coming kick off comic I'd missed a couple weeks ago, a graphic novel for Alisha, and four free comics from their fcbd page.

Sorry, MixedMyth! Ebay has people selling their free comics...you might have some luck there, just search ebay.com fcbd!

Pretty sure it's not worth it to buy freebie samplers off the internet from money-grubbing assholes who think they can make a quick buck from nothing. Not that MM would actually do such a thing.

most free comic day comics are reproduced digitally on the comic publisher's sites anyways.

Honestly...most aren't really worth it, either. >_> Used to be a lot better, imo. Although I AM glad I scored that free Hellboy comic a few years ago.

yeah... I didn't really go for the free stuff, I went for the crowd. it's crazy to see that many people cram into your local comic shop.
