Zeera the Space Pirate's 7th birthday

Post by Noemz »

...and it's time for McDuffies to set his watch again!

Zeera the Space Pirate is turning seven in September. Seven.

I've been doing this for nearly seven years.

Seven.

*snaps out of it*

Anyways, as is my tradition, I'm looking for guest comics to celebrate the occasion. (Have a look here if you would like to see previous submissions.) I like Zeera-related comics, but they don't have to be birthday-related. I like crossovers, and don't mind if Zeera's reality is a little mangled.

I'm offering a Zeera comic book to each contributor, plus I will plug your comic when your guest work goes up on the site.

I'll need the comics by 17th September. Also, Zeera is in her final countdown with only 43 comics to go, which is less than a year for a weekly, so this may be the last Zeera birthday thingy. If you don't want to miss out, this is it! ;)

(Next year, McDuffies will have to ring up Mr Time.)

As a regular reader of Zeera, I think you should give us regular updates before you ask for more fan art. She's got a cool-ass ship and a couple birds that never miss if nobody is looking. Go pirate something!

Is her archive calender a dirty trick? She doesn't update weekly? Dastardly!

*cries*

I knew I should have put my unpaid huge-time-and-energy-commitment hobby ahead of Life and my paid employment instead of missing a week here and there when I felt like I was about to drop dead... Now I deserve no fan art for my comic's birthday. :(

As Buster pointed out - I was wrong; your comic's basically been updating weekly all year; you missed a few weeks in a row a bit back and I remembered that over the months you've hit your weekly target. Twice you did good, and that you heard never... Sorry about that; I withdraw my complaint. :)

You wouldn't put your art online if you didn't want people to read it. One of the downsides of people getting excited about your comic is that excitement breeds expectation. When you later say, "I do this for free..." you're really saying, "What did you expect?" Which is the opposite of what you want to say, if one of your goals it to have readers be excited by your comic.

Good luck. Hope you get tons of fanart, you do deserve some. Go Zeera YAY!

Thanks. :) I'm always happy to soak up encouragement. It's just that when you're tired and working hard on a comic, and rarely hear anything from people when you do update, even a little casual offhand remark can feel like a kick in the guts. :-?

Maybe I'll have to do a guest strip that has seven panels in it! :)

(Or maybe not seven panels. But it'll still be a guest strip.)

Excuse me Noemz... what is this about there only being 42 Zeeras left?

She just got into piracy, finally, after seven years of being Zeera the space pirate, she's being a space pirate. And it's ending in 42 strips?

:(

Aww - Zeera's ending? I've been AWOL from ComicGen for a while... I think the last time I was active was your LAST birthday XD
Sad to hear you have an end in sight, but that just means you'll have time to explore new things, right? I still love 'Thatguy', but I know I've grown a lot by setting it aside and working on different projects. Anyway, here's to a smashing final stretch and many more good things to come!

I don't have a ton of time to make a proper strip, but here's a little something for the birthday! Congrats on 7 years :o WOW!

OMG Zeera is still alive? I definitely should browse CG even more ... that's such great news ^^ and I'm glad four you that there are seven years already of Zeeras wild adventures ... I loved this comic (and boy, I really have the feeling I have to catch up many pages ^^)
Would you like a second guest comic from me? My first must be four years old now :D

Oh wow... Readers! :D

Hi Asarea, great to see you still lurking here! I check in on Night and Day sometimes, just in case. I'd love another guest comic from you!

And That guy, THANK YOU! That is awesome! Which comic(s) would you like me to link to when your work comes up? And under what name?

And, 42 comics is actually a fair way to go. That's almost another year. That's plenty of time for Zeera to get up to all kinds of hijinks. :)

You're welcome, of course. :D ... The only comic I'm posting regularly is my CatLegend spinoff stories, LEGENDS (at Legends.SpiderForest.com). My pen-name there is Razz, but probably best to go with my real name for your comic, (it's Will).

Argh! One week to go for Zeera's birthday! Her (and my :) ) birthday kicks off on 17th September. As I am a lucky sod with two fan arts so far, I can extend the deadline to the following week (24th).

I don't really write funny. (trying to come up with something funny to make fanart of) I did read through the archive so it'd be leginimate fanart, though... snrk... I'm just trying to come up with something funny. >< I'm bad at this 'comic' thing.

I never try to be funny. I just try to be silly. ;)

Actually, that's a load of bollocks. I'm just naturally silly. Drawing comics is a way to become slightly more socially acceptable. Or something. Or... Oh look! A shiny thing!

That's the problem! I'm not naturally witty or sarcastic or snarky or silly or anything like that, at least not in a way that transcribes to the comic medium. I am trying to come up with something for you, though! Seven years is pretty impressive and worthy of more than just a crappy painting from me. ;)
