Re: What screen resolution do you browse the forums with?
My screen is 1920x1200 on the right, 1440x900 on the left, but I primarily use the left screen for irc and mac stuff, while the right screen is the only HCCP enabled screen, so if I ever get a blueray drive, that's the only screen it will work on. That said, I usually have the web browser size at about half the the screen's width, with the other half filled with shell terminals to CG, CG forums, and stuff. If I'm using any adobe applications, they are usually on the left side of the right screen with either dvd's or youtube or something playing on the right.

I liiike my 1440x900... and there's no way I'd go back to 1024 x 768 after using this monitor. Zomg. It is made of amazing. (coughs)
Yeah, I like widescreen. I also don't maximize anything, though. Can't stand maximized windows--couldn't on the smaller resolution, I keep my windows about... eh... 800 to 900 pixels wide, as a general rule.

Mac? The only other person I know with that resolution has a Mac... I don't know that many people, so that's not saying much. Lol.I'm apparantly very strange; my monitor is 1280 by 960.

Nope, it's an Acer laptop. Runs Windows.Metruis wrote:Mac? The only other person I know with that resolution has a Mac... I don't know that many people, so that's not saying much. Lol.I'm apparantly very strange; my monitor is 1280 by 960.

Re: What screen resolution do you browse the forums with?
My screen resolution is 1680 x 1050 pixels (wide-screen), but I rarely have my browser window maximized to fit that whole resolution. The window itself is about 1200 pixels wide.
I guess that's kind of a funny way to use a wide-screen monitor, but it seems to work the best. If I maximize the window, the lines of text are too long. A narrow window is more readable. Having some breathing room around the window is kind of pretty, too... then I can see my desktop wallpaper around the margins.

Ah, okay. The friend I'm talking about has a laptop so it could just be a laptop resolution, maybe... I dunno.Kasaii wrote: Nope, it's an Acer laptop. Runs Windows.

1600 by 1200, which isn't on there so I just put the nearest... I don't have a flat screen so... I have to sit back otherwise I'm staring RIGHT INTO MY SCREEN
Re: What screen resolution do you browse the forums with?
The world is going widescreen, yet we still code for square.
Cause, you know.. the last 15 years have been square.

This is a pretty old post, but I figured I'd put my 2 cents in anyway:
I still use 800x600 (and web-browse full-screen), and because of problems with my vision it's unlikely I'll be able to switch to any bigger resolution even IF I use glasses. It seems most applications are designing *EXCLUSIVELY* for 1024+ resolutions, but resolution should be irrelevent for webpages if they are designed correctly (ex: use CSS extensively)

Re: What screen resolution do you browse the forums with?
It probably didn't need posting, but I wanted to...
I just changed my resolution to 900 x 1440 pixels. That's right - it's taller than it is wide. Why? Because I have a new wide-screen monitor but it's too wide for the computer desk. So I mounted it in portrait orientation rather than the traditional landscape.
It's a little weird and a little disorienting and it'll probably take me a day or three to get used to it but so far - IT ROCKS! I recomend trying it to anyone who is able to. Having a really tall monitor means I can see a whole lot more of the forum at once.
Not so good for watching movies though, but I don't have any movies to watch on this computer and if I did I wouldn't watch them here since the living room is much more comfortable...

That'd work pretty well with my page layouts, now that I think about it.Dr Neo Lao wrote:it's taller than it is wide.

Re: What screen resolution do you browse the forums with?
Screen's native resolution is apparently 1280x800, but heaven forbid I try to use anything above 1024x768... Nothing above it displays right.
So I put "***todays_notes***" on my index page...
...but my note for today is a text file containing...

Re: What screen resolution do you browse the forums with?
my personal resolution is between the 11 and 1200s, however my browser takes up about 3/4 of that screen so I can layer my windows for quick viewing.

I have two laptops (migrating from Dell 1420 to Macbook Pro/Windows XP partition), both are 1440x900. Although, my Macbook can go higher, but it just extends the additional visible area offscreen instead of readjusting resolution
I feel weird; everyone else says they rarely use fullscreen browsers. I always have FireFox fullscreen so I can quickly switch to it when needed. Mostly a leftover habit from working with deviantART images as refs for sketches.

1440x900, but I actually have my browser zoomed in quite a bit because having the resolution this high often makes a lot of writing seem very, very small and I have no desire to ruin my eyes further.unfortunately, the zoo does not work with some webpages that suck their own rigid formats.
