I spent the better part of the weekend decorating the house for Christmas with the wife and kids, when I should have been lettering the comic, and I'm ok with that.
We have two christmas trees and outdoor decorations that are the envy of the neighborhood. It helps to have two young children to help motivate the holiday cheer.

And, yes, we are done with the Christmas shopping.

I'm with ya. I love the holidays, but all that time with family and stuff takes its toll on comicking.

Psh, I'm already knee deep in (C)Ha(n)nukah. I've got my Baba to call and send a card to, presents to buy for the family (oy, I won't be working over break), and latkes to make. Forget about spinning a dreidel, no time! I would light the menorah, but I don't have one.

Then again, my comic is dead and my writings are on hold.

I'm back to updating, actually. I took a month off.

Oh, preach it, brother. I spent last Christmas in North Carolina with my cousin, her husband, some of his inlaws, and my cousin's two daughters. We tried to tire them out the evening before by hiking up a mountain. The plan backfired, and I think it's been the first Christmas I've had where I wanted to sleep in, only to be awoken by scratching on my door and a soft whisper: "Kevin, we want to open presents."
How their eyes lit up when it was finally present opening time was worth getting up, though =D

Final projects are keeping me away from my comic more than Christmas.

No holiday stuff in my space. No tree, wreaths, or anything. We try to avoid the entire thing. Plus, we live across the freeway from the busiest mall in the area, which adds to our commutes and general bedlam. Sometimes I'm afraid to leave the house. Don't mess with rabid consumers.

bah.. the only thing that X-mas ticks me off about is they start bloody advertizing and putting crismas junk out the day after frigging halloween -

come ON!

I personally feel that ANY X-mas decorations or advertising thats done before dec 1st should be punishable by 1 year in prison or a 500.000 fine -
thats commercial or personal.... grrr

as far as the rest of it goes .. its just a reminder of a empty house.

I find it amusing how religious people get all worked up around the holidays. I'm more about peace and cheer all year!

I love Christmas. It's my favorite holiday. It's the only time of the year that I let my usual veneer of jaded cynicism melt away.

Christmas is pretty cool and it brings back some good memories. I just send off a package to a friend, and I'm almost done with shopping for people I actually care about. Now I'm listening to Overkill by Men at Work, then I'll listen to the Dashboard Confessional cover of it. It fills me with cheer, just like this Amaretto Stone Sour.

I had a little liquid cheer in the form of an egg nog milkshake last night.

You know...'cause egg nog itself isn't unhealthy enough.

Meh, I'm not to big on Christmas either. But I'm not all "BAH HUMBUG!" It can be alright sometimes, but I just can't get all the enthusiasms some people some how muster up cause it's christmas.
Also what is up with the whole "peace on earth" being blown up during christmas? What does peace on earth have anything thing to do with christmas? Shouldn't it be a year round thing? Peace on earth during christmas, fuck everyone up the rest of the year. *shrugs*

Peace on Earth is obviously not something we've ever historically had, but it's something that we aspire to. The Christmas version of "Peace on Earth" isn't so much proclaiming there should be peace at this time, because it will never happen, but rather proclaiming what is expected to happen under the spiritual guidance that only a messianic presence can provide. Since Christmas celebrations are the celebrations of such a messiah, then the term "Peace on Earth" is a term of recognition of what Jesus has the power to do for humanity.

At least, that's how I see it.

As opposed to Hannukah which is a celebration of the freedom fighter and all things flammable.
