Miss/Mr/Thing Comicgenesis 2007: Enter submissions here.
Like every summer, returns the beauty-pageant contest.
Like all other times the competition will be split into 3 categories:
- Miss (for all the female characters)
- Mr (for all the male characters)
- Thing (for all genederless and/or too far from being human-like characters).
The rules are always the same:
* The character participating the contest must belong to an existing webcomic. Forum avatars, concept sketches of future comics and the like, may not enter.
* There can't be more than one character per comic participating in the same category. Characters from the same comic, however, can participate in different categories.
* It's really appreciated to have a single separate post for each character: So, no swimsuit picture on a post and the rest on an other or the like and no more than one character per post.
The following form must be filled in for every character entering the contest (foll must be complete, leaving even just a question behind will result in the entry being disqualified):
Name:
Comic:
Picture of the character in swimwear
Picture of the character in formal/winter clothes
Description of the character's skills and abilities
(This can be either simple text, comic, or even links to existing comic pages)
Answer to the following 3 questions (Courtesy of Rusty Knight)
- If you could have one superpower what would it be and why?
- If you could listen to only three songs for the rest of your life what would they be?
- What are your three most favorite things to do?
---
The deadline will be August 1st (you got two full months to submit your stuff).

Cool.
Just a thought, Jops, and you can ignore this if you want, but maybe we can try tiered voting this year. The last few times we had more entrants than our polls can allow, so maybe break it up into two heats where the winners go on to a final election. This way votes remain anonymous. Of course, it's a bit of a pain in the ass, so I understand if you don't wanna do it. (And sorry if I suggested this last year. I've been doing a lot of drinking and I can barely remember Wednesday.)
Just an idea.

Question: Do you accept characters that have technically been introduced for the main comic in a non-canon story/sub-story for the comic?Jops wrote:* The character partecipating the contest must belong to an existing webcomic. Have a couple of supid questions (some may say there's no such thing as a stupid question, but believe me, there is)
This actually means winter? I mean, jackets, coats, fur and stuff?Jops wrote: Picture of the character in formal/winter clothes
This means the character, right?Jops wrote:Answer to the following 3 questions

Yes. The character should be answering them, for that character is entering.Fabio Ciccone wrote:This means the character, right?Jops wrote:Answer to the following 3 questions

It means either winter, being jackets, coats, fur and stuff, or formal, being gowns, tuxes and the like. A lot of people did both last year.Fabio Ciccone wrote:This actually means winter? I mean, jackets, coats, fur and stuff?Jops wrote: Picture of the character in formal/winter clothes

I never actually, felt the need for the vot to be anonimous in this... but yeah, we can give it a try: don't see any harm in experimenting.yeahduff wrote:Just a thought, Jops, and you can ignore this if you want, but maybe we can try tiered voting this year.
Well, if you hang around these forums and be part of the CG community, i don't see why not. I'm not this formal, the fact alone that you read this thread basically allows you to partecipate.warofwinds wrote:Just to clarify since it wasn't in the rules, if my comic is no longer on CG, can I participate? I have a mirror site here, but that's all.
It's still fine, mort. The Mortician wrote:Question: Do you accept characters that have technically been introduced for the main comic in a non-canon story/sub-story for the comic?
Yeah, now that you mention it, i think it was in 2004.Kris X wrote:I could have sworn Chat Rouge won one of the Thing Keenspaces... I am outraged!
If someone could even tell who was the winner in 2005, it'd be very appreciated if he/she could update the wiki with the correct info. Thanks.
Hmm, who should enter? Should I go with Alice, Beatrice, or Amelia for the girls? Should I enter the hunky Arthur for the guys, or should I go with beanpole Percy? I think Percy would have been responses to the questions, but Arthur wins at eye candy.
Alice is my favorite of my female characters, but Beatrice is the most amusing, and I'm told Amelia is the prettiest. Both Alice and Amelia have appeared in swimwear in three comics so far: Alice once in her own fantasy, once in Arthur's fantasy, and once in a regular comic; and Amelia once in Arthur's fantasy (bad Arthur!) and twice in reality. Beatrice is the most lively of the three, but I actually have the least idea of what to do with her character in the future. While I was coming up with the concept for the comic, I just sort of threw her in as Alice's roommate, and she hasn't quite grown into her role like I want her to. She fits well now, but I don't have any major plot cycles centered around her in my planning files yet. Every other major character has at least one (including the mysterious #6 who has not appeared yet).
This will be a tough decision.
At least the Thing category is easy at the moment. I can include the little cat who always appears next to the "Liddell" logo, right? If not, there will be a few other non-humans appearing soon.
