I'm taking a comics art class at NYU with Rob Storr.
We've been reading Understanding Comics, Reinventing Comics, random Batman, Superman, X-Men, Maus, Maus II, Krazy Kat, Crumb, Yellow Kid, Black Hole, etc.
The class is called Comix: From the Yellow Kid to the Black Hole. It's pretty awesome. Professor STorr is good friends with Art Spiegelman, so he might be able to get him to come to our class.
Anyway, I just finshed re-reading Blankets, and will likely move onto Sandman next.

Have you read theory books by Will Eisner? McCloud heavily references them in "Understanding..."

Surprisingly, we haven't been required to read Eisner's work, even though I think we should. Someone near the end of the semester will be presenting on him I hope.
I did a presentation on
Understanding Comics, and my next pres will be on web comics, which will surely be entertaining.
PS
I really want to read Bruce Timm's
Mad Love, btw.

I was pleased to find that my public library had a couple of 'em.
I didn't find the writing style that accessable, but the examples and sketches Will Eisner uses throughout his books just highlight how wonderfully talented he was.
(Edit/Addition: I also found some Spirit archives. My library is surprisingly cool.)

"Best sprite-comic" has got to be one of the best oxymorons I've heard in awhile.

Okay, what'm I reading?
Always a hard thing to answer since there's always a bunch of things I read in batches every six months or so.
Here's a sampling 'though:
Oldies but goodies:
Tsunami Channel
College Roomies from Hell!!!
Ozy and Millie.
Probably deserve more attention than they get:
Mara-Chan!
Fainting Spells.
Masters of the Art.
TiLe
Corner Alley 13.
Pastel Defender Heliotrope.
Baaa!
Inverloch.
Candi.
Wapsi Square.
The Lounge.
Misfile.
It is what it is:
Ugly Girl.
Special notes:
Emergency Exit. <- Still going through the archives.
Acid Reflux. <- Long since dead but I plan to reread it asap

I mostly read pretty big-name comics, but I do very faithfully read some comicgenesis comics you should check out:
http://straightahead.comicgenesis.com (SO funny...so unfamous...odd)
http://venusenvy.comicgenesis.com (very hiatus-y)
http://liliane.comicgenesis.com
http://tile.comicgenesis.com
httP//bobned.comicgenesis.com (mostly dead but worth a read through the considerable archives)
and of course, the almost-comic-genesis comic I love,
http://www.biev.net/faintingspells/
Oddly enough, I was a major fan of quite a few (then keenspace) comic genesis comics long before I had a comic here. I actually think that Straight Ahead was the first non-huge-name comic I ever read and followed.

Is it sad I don't have time to read other webcomics?

*stabs you 17,000 times on general principles*
In all seriousness, I use my Links page as my primary bookmark system, so everything I read is right there. Which reminds me - have to update it.
