NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
This is your territory. :p
This is your territory. :p
Caught in the headlamp glare of your own blinding vanity/Mesmerised by the stare of your shallow personality
Gorging the junk food of flattery you drag your fat ego around/Everyone floored by the battering you give to whoever's around
Oh Narcissus you petulant child admiring yourself in the curve of my eyes/Oh Narcissus you angel beguiled unsated by self you do nothing but die

I always think HTML could do with some basic image manipulation. Flipping, gray scaling... stuff like that.Keffria wrote:I think it looks neat, but it doesn't go with my comic site's greyscale look, so I'll just beg for donations and give a link.
In other news, I've been more or less ignoring this thread, thinking it was the sampler. I need to catch up later.

How are we coming along? It looks like I'm out for contributing artwork.

We have our first donation: $7.39 (out of $8, remember Paypal takes it's cut).
Just another $1992.61 to go!
Fee details: 6.6% + 1% for international. That's higher than I expected it to be; I'm used to 3.9% or so.
::edit:: forgot that includes a standard $0.30 fee per transaction; 30 cents is 3.75% of an $8 transaction, that's why the fee seems so high. So we're ok. Actual fee was roughly 2.9% + $0.30 + 1% for international, like they advertise.

Thanks, Ryan!
Let's hope the donations start rolling in. I'm going to work out some details on different "levels" of donations for the book. I was thinking $10-50 could be "bronze" level, "$50-100" would be a silver level, and "$100 and above" could be like a gold sponsor. Each level gets different amounts of recognition in the book, though I'd like to give anybody and everybody who donates to the book some credit in our sponsor pages at the end of the book. Maybe as incentive some volunteer artists could offer to give "gold sponsors" gift art of their choice to feature in the book, like a caricature or portrait, in exchange for a donation. Just a thought.
Also, we may have room for some extra artwork in the book for pages like the table of contents, an introductory page, and a few others. I also learned that we'll need to come up with something for the back page as well. Humbug is only doing the front cover, currently. Does anybody have any ideas?

The code is on indextemplate.html; it'll be up tomorrow. I've just used it to donate $10--more whenever I have more to spare, ideally.
This is, by the way, awesome--but is there a hard deadline yet for getting the pages in?

I just updated the total for the progress bar this morning. We're on our way!
Note to everyone who's donating: be sure to mention in the comment box in PayPal if there's anything special I should put next to your name in the "sponsors" page when we finish the book.
Right now, the hard deadline for comic pages is tentatively the end of January, though I'm going to be bugging everybody for artwork well before then just to make sure we're on track.

I just belatedly realized this means you're gonna want me to update you with the names of people who have donated, and any comments they make.cortland wrote:I just updated the total for the progress bar this morning. Folks, if you don't want your name listed, mention that in the comments too, or if you want to go by something other than the name your paypal is listed under.
And the three who donated already - let me know in pm if you don't want your paypal name to be the name Cortland uses.
