well, I have negative amounts of mental health, so ...score!

My mental health was extracted from my body and injected into the cranium of an unborn calf. Due to the insignificant quantity derived from my body, there was no discernable effect on the calf's development.

It's overpriced anyways.

Finally got enough time to read through the archives, and congratulations. It's completely deserving. One of my new favorites.

I feel so bad for noting this over in the super secret Keenspot forum before coming to this thread here. The CG forums are much more fun and lively than the Spot ones and I've been neglecting them.

Out There is one of my regular reads. Keenspot is better for having it!

That's funny, because when I started this thread, I was thinking along the lines of making some pun about dalmations or leopards. Then my mind wandered over to other kinds of spots and for some reason it stopped on chicken pox. At this point I decided to forgo the metaphor approach.

And I agree, Sortelli, the CG forums do seem to be funner than the Keenspot forums. That's one reason I'm still posting here.

Being relatively new to webcomics I didn't know if four months was a short amount of time to go from Genner to Spotter but I think the anount of comics I have in my archive (a little over a hundred now) was probably a more compelling factor than the length of time I've been drawing the strip. The Keensters didn't tell me what made them decide I was worthy (and I didn't ask them, lest they reflect on it and come to their senses), but in the FAQ on the Keenspot site they say they look for comics that update often and consistently. Of course they also say they look for comics that focus on niches, and mine is as non-nichey as I can possibly make it. In the end it all boils down to whether four people like it and/or think it has marketable appeal, so it's kind of a crapshoot. The fact that four people like or don't like your strip really doesn't reflect on whether or not it's a good strip. I like my strip and I'm glad some other people do, too, but basically I just feel like I got lucky.

Bah, time doesn't mean anything. You can spend years and years on CG without getting even close to spotting. Only if you're one of folks who start with bad art and get better over the years through making comics, can time be measure of probability for spotting. Rc's art was already very defined at the beginning and with his schedule it'd take maybe a month to have enough comics in archive for showcase.

Hey, perhaps I missed something... what is the difference between a Keenspot and a ComicGenesis comic? They are related, correct? If you get a certain amount of hits or a large archive? Or just a webmaster liking your work? Curious.

Comicgenesis is a free webcomic host. Keenspot is invitation-only, where hosts share profit from adds with comic author, unlike CG where host keeps all the profit. CG and Keenspot are owned by the same company, Keenspot Entertainment, but that's as far as connection goes. People get invited on Keenspot based on votes of four owners of Keenspot, with ctireriums that (I guess) include personal taste and estimation on how successful the comic will be. Comics with steady updating schedule of several times a week are prefered. Sometimes people invited to Keenspot are from CG, but just as often they're not.
