What Makes Your Comic Unique?

What makes your comic unique?

Be it characters, story, setting, art, or your particular creative process, what makes your comic stand out from the crowd?
note: any l337 used in the previous post was used ony to avoid the poster's Cybersitter. Image

Look at my avatar/signature. Is that guy unique-looking enough?

Oh yeah... plus there's the whole thing where it takes place on a fork.

It's not unique, unlike everyone else's!

A lot. But I'm too lazy to explain it  Maybe I'll edit this post later. But mostly it's setting, history, science/physics, and a backstory big enough to kill someone.

If you have to ask, you haven't read it. :)

I've yet to see another comic out there that's similar to mine at all. That probably means I'm doing something horribly wrong...

Well, there are only a handful of educational comics out there, and of those, only a couple deal with science in any real way.

Well, for one thing, a lot of superhero webcomics out there tend to have more than one hero running around their world with their hero being the primary focus. With Lightbringer, he is currently the first and ONLY superhero on earth and, as such, I've tried to reflect the world around him on how the real world would react to such a person.

Subsequently, I will never have a true origin story for Lightbringer's powers. ^_~ I will not say if he's a metahuman, if he's a mutant, an angel, an alien, anything. He simply has his powers and I think any story that explains how he got them would detract away from the character.

Also, a lot of the comic focuses on ethics in a very black-and-white focus while letting a little grey filter in and yet somehow keep the story intriguing and interesting for the readers. Also, Lightbringer tries to reinforce traditional superhero elements (Like the secret identity) and use them in a modern context.

Oh! And not many other comics deal with the subject of human slavery, even if it's in a different sort of form than how it is in real life.

My art style is a little bit different, but I think my layouts stand out a bit more since it feels more like a illustrated book than a normal comic. Other than that, I try to build up the world setting whenever I start something new. I also try to make stories that don't follow normal outcomes, though I tend to like tragedies.

Umm - wow - not much. I draw a full color fantasy adventure comic about a group of friends who have to save the world. They go through trials, discover who they are, and meet new people. It's an idea that's been done a million times, by a million people.

But I think my character and costume designs are different, if not unique. I have also been told that I've got a good understanding of color usage.

Other than that - nothing. :shifty:

It's based around a pimp and her manhos, but very little pimping ends up happening. Pimping is simply what they do for money - aside from that, they've had dealings with Hell, with separate dimensions (or realms, as I like to call em), and with some quirky assassins who live in a tattoo parlour.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE!

That, and a six-legged snakelike ferret hybrid thingy named Turkish.

I do feel my comic is unique...I don't think there's anything else quite like it out there. [Strokes chin] now I'm just trying to think of why.

Heh, anyone who reads my comic wanna' help me out here?

It's been labelled a 'foreign' comic because it's set in a specific country...but it isn't foreign cos I'm writing it where it's set...

As far as I know, what makes it unique is that it is set specifically in Australia and deals primarily with kids and how they view the world, without (hopefully) falling into the trap of having the kids be simply cute or worldly wise and sarcastic. The kids are kids.

Oh...and big ears.

Ours is in two languages. Is that enough?

No? Okay. So it's also a true story. Albeit one that hasn't happened yet.

No?

We're slower than everybody else at posting updates? Our working process is ridiculously contrived and long-winded? I'm a tyrannical autocrat who treats the artist like a puppet?

No?

There are no ninjas in it. Does that count for anything?
