Question on retcons, starting over, and other faux paws *g*

Alright, so I haven't touched my comic in, err, two years? I'm not sure what the etiquette is to starting over. Last time I wandered back from a 'vacation' I reorganized the archive, and started a new storyline (leaving the old one to wither).
I'd like to go back and finish both storylines, but I'm not sure how to format it. Would it be rude to erase everything and re-upload it so that the comic resets to day one? I've got 60 (or so) comics before I hit the first unfinished story line and I figure at 3 a week that gives me four months to finish it. Then I hit the second set (about 20 comics in between) before I need to continue the story again.
Not that anyone was reading it anymore, but I'd hate to start over and have people come back only to find it's still in reruns. Would it be acceptable to simply list a date on the index page for when the 'new' comics will start running? Or should I upload the new comics and backdate them to fit into the archive?
Thanks for your input! ^_^

Well, from what happened to the webcomic Kelen, I would not suggest re-uploading and starting everyone back from day one, 'cause then you might start saying to yourself, "Oh, look at the time I have before I have to update! I don't need to work!" This will then morph to "I still don't have to update!" and finally to "Why am I doing this again?" You have the motivation now, draw and upload now, before you lose it. Just my opinion (can you tell I'm still mad Kelen quit? Grr)

Mmm... good point! Best to nip procrastination in the bud and whatnot. Not that I've ever fallen prey to procrastination. Nope, not ta once. Hey, stop snickering!
Now I've only got to find a way to start the comic up again so that the updates to the old (and new) story arcs are predictable. *ponder* Guess I'll copy the Plot Dragon strip over to the end of Catch As Cat Can for now and plot out new strips for December. I still need to find the box with all of the old strips in it. -_-;; <-(guilty look)
I think, to make it look less pathetic, I'm going to bump all of the comics up to this year. That way I won't jump haphazardly around date-wise, and will incur less wrath from folks surfing the archives. I've got how many strips were in each arc already mapped out, so I should be able to sync things up so that the old strips will mesh right into the current ones once the story arcs are finished.
Not that anyone is/was/will be reading it...
EDIT: Appologies for the 9 bazillion copies of this that got posted (and are now deleted), was getting odd errmsgs and assumed it was my connection.

I reckon you should just start posting the new stuff.

Then when people come to read they'll have a whole archive of stuffs to flip through.
That ws the question, right?

*grin* Sort of. ^_~
My problem is that I have two story arcs that were started and never finished. I would like to finish them, but was unsure how to handle the mechanics so that everything fell back into place in the timeline.
I think I've got it worked out, and I've got a few sketches to work on when I get home. *doodles* I've missed comics. ^_^

Ah. Maybe you should rip of the second story at least, and then start uploading from where you didn't finish the first. :|

I agree with that in some ways. But if you like what you have already and repost it, that will give you some time to work on new stuff.

Okay, I think I've got everything planned out so that it will match up. I'm going to drop everything after the first unfinished storyline and save it to que-up after I've finished that one. I'm currently working on finishing the first storyline, and will start posting the new strips as of Dec 5th on a MWF schedule. I'm going to redate the old strips, to move them up to this year so that they sync up date-wise the new stuff I'll be posting. I'm going to take down the one-shots and the Fan strips and maybe just make them a non-archive page or something. *ponders*
My question now is... being that I'm going to be doing a massive update (60-odd comics being redated) is there a preferred time that I should schedule this? I faintly remember there being 'favorite' times that folks used, and I'd like to stay away from those to keep the servers happy. ^_^;;
Thanks again for all your help!
