I didn't care the first time around, I guess I'll keep not caring. Much too bad for all those hosted over there though.

I'm not sure how i missed that thread from a couple of months ago about the whole thing but, oh well, that's one less source of spam for us.. that leaves us only.... fifty billion to go?

I tried to stay out of the whole thing here, but I have to say, I think this whole thread is pretty mean spirited. Gutterfly wasn't such a bad host for some of us who dont have the massive readership big breasted lesbians bring in, and gutterfly worked for us. And let me also point out that neither of the guys who actually RAN gutterfly were involved in that flame war, aside from apologizing for it. They worked hard trying to make a business out of webcomics. It didn't work, but I think we can at least respect the way they did it. So, if you don't have anything nice to say...

hey, you guys are the ones who called us pussys. I could always link the post where we were called that if you so desire me too.

We didn't apprciate getting spammed, nor called names. I think I can laugh at poetic justice. There is no law against that.

and all because I get around 12gb of bandwith traffic a month now a days doesn't mean my ONE busty lesbian character has always had that power over people. My comic has been here for years now. It's just called having a loyal fanbase.

follow your own advice and be quiet if you don't want people laughing at you.

the thing is, it was NEVER GOING TO WORK.
It was an inferior service to what is offered here.


Theres some suggestion that the service was somehow better for people with tiny readerships or something.

Comicgen does the teeny readerships just as well as the bigguns, without all the restrictions. hell, the PAYED service is worse than our free one!

there is no way a business model like that can succeed, because it sucked, and we all knew it sucked, and just because the guys that ran it were real nice, and they did seem it, that didnt stop it sucking.

And thats something that people laugh at. naturally. its called schadenfreude, and everyone does it.

i was VERY tempted to drop some avenue Q lyrics there, but i wont.

Anyway. dont come in here all snippy with CJ because we were right, and we are laughing. because... well. nothing wrong with laughing at an idiotic plan, even if it isnt.... *nice*

Wow, that was a quick response. I was trying to make a joke, I've actually read burgundy comics myself and I didn't realize I'd offend anybody by stating something obvious about the comic.

Anyway, my point was, a couple of good guys, serious artists with some good projects and decent goals, and all the response to the keenspace crew is to gloat about it. And by the way, from what I can tell, we aren't migrating to either keenspace or dd. I think there's something to be said about smaller webcomic outlets.

Personally, the reason i went with gutterfly was to avoid ads on my website. I can't stand them, it's not like they're making me any money, just cluttering up the top of the site.

it was an insult, if you meant it as a joke or not.

while all ads are annoying, the amount of readers put off by a 90 pix tall bannar at the TOP of a site is very few.

its when ads appear in the body of a site that things get annoying.

I am getting really sick of people implying/whining that if you have adult content, or any characters with an once of sex appeal that it is somehow "cheating" and that's the only reason for any popularity.

I agree (except for big-breasted lesbians part).
I personally think that Gutterfly's system was never going to work because, well, various reasons.
But this is simply dancing on someone's grave, beating a dead horse and attacking the weaker and less vocal, all it one.

I suggest we cut it out.
