A Modest Destiny was pretty good while it lasted. The author's taking down the site, but he's got up a .zip file of the comics, and some links to fan-archives.

Seconded. Also, don't forget about 1/0 (the comic is down, but there's a link to a mirror archive on the site)

It's too bad "Cathy" is still updating.

Not that it would belong on this list, it's just too bad its still updating.

Garfield, of course, would fall into this same category.

Another goodie I just recently read was We3. It's an actual comic, and not a webcomic, but it's simply superb. Written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Frank Quitely, at only three issues long (and yes, it's collected into a trade paperback now), it is one of the absolute best stories I have ever read in this medium. Unforgivingly graphic in its violence, but at the same time more touching than I could ever expect a comic could be. I highly recommend this one.

I am being useless by pointing out that 1/0, Unicorn Jelly, Mixed Myth, and It's Walky are all "must read"s. Since y'know, everyone else already mentioned them.

Basil Flint is very good too, but the ending is mediocre.

For unfinished, Acid Reflux is top notch, it's an awesome world-building comic (like Unicorn Jelly and 1/0 (and LOTR?) ). I think the author died.

Really? Hrm... I can't imagine them pulling off what the comic did. Only time will tell though.

yeah i think they'll probably just turn it into a highbrow "homeward bound"
