Projects in Process?

Post by Kris X »

Well I don't know about a majority fo you people, but besides the webcomics I assume we all have ongoing projects running in the background. Just for the heck of it I wonder what else is moving on in the background of a webcomic artist.

For example, in addition to Chat Rouge, I am also currently persuing two additional projects: Mohawk the novel and a underwraps graphic novel. The graphic novel is in the very-very early brainstorming and scripting stages. The Mohawk novel's first draft is done and currently being self-edited before handed off to editors.

I ask this because I am curious as to what we all have goals for aside from updating and drawing. Surly there is some thing you have in the process of or maybe some dream you're working up to.

On a completely different (slightly similiar) note, is anyone going to take webcomicing to a new level and work to making it a profession? Maybe not as a webcomic artist, but maybe as a cartoonist or graphic noveller? I know I am and will be a very starving artist.... So down the road if anyone can house homeless Kris.....

I'm building a primary school band at the moment which are possibly the strongest we have in our area, and I think I've just been put into the organising committee of a few to put together our end of year concert featuring every single bloody kid in the school.

Other than that, I'm flat out correcting and planning to teach the kids to enrich their world and other motherhood statements like that.

I have a list by my bed which has all the articles, stories, and editing work I'm meant to be doing. The major projects I'm working on at the moment are a solicited novel and adding to the Great Folio Creation Pile, which means publishing as many articles of as many different styles in as many different magazines/papers as is humanly possible before I have to go a-job searching in Ireland in September. I lost my old folio thanks to an ass-hat ex boss so this is the unfortunate predicament I'm in now.

I don't know if these count as 'projects' because I'm being forced to do these with a gun to my temple.

My current goal in life is to GET A CAREER IN SOMETHING ELSE, but this is likely to be difficult because I have no 'people skills' and a major problem with authority.

Writing. Short stories at the moment but building up to another novel. And tutorials, of course. Occassionally.

I also make my own line of humourous greetings cards for friends and family - or would be if I hadn't been a little swamped with classes this semester. Good money, though.

Nothing, but that's because I like my comic so much that I'm not interested in doing anything else right now. Hooray!

The comic is pretty much my main creative endeavor at the moment.

Writing. A lot. In fact, I have to say I enjoy writing more then doing art. I'm currently writing the first feature story for my high school's first newspaper issue for next year. It's about parent-teen interaction. Also, I'm working on tons of short stories and poetry.

I have a very loose plotline for a novel written out. It's just a matter of settling on things and figuring out how to write a novel.

You figure it out as you go. It's the only way, believe me.

I've been writing a novel series for about 12 years or so now, still working on rewriting books one and two, but currently my job is getting in the way of actually doing and writing.

My main creative outlet have for many years been roleplaying games. Right now, I've become kinda tired of them, though, and so I don't have any projects running.

I have plans for writing a novel, but to say that they are vague would be to qualify for the "understatements" thread.

In addidtion to my comic and various comic related mini-projects (am currently designing posters and stuff like that...) I have some artwork that's been promised to a friend for months... which I may actually get round to finishing soon. Also I have a novel I've been working on for ages, have about 15-20 thousand words of rough draft and the rest pretty much plotted out but I only have about a couple of thousand words that are redrafted suffeiciently that I would actually show them to anyone else. Oh and I write poetry sometimes... I do it as a kind of party trick, get someone to give me a topic and then ten minutes later give them a brand new poem on or relating to that topic (usually about four lines long but people seem to like them). Oh and I roleplay I spent a heck of a lot of yesterday designing a character for a new game that I'm supposed to be in from next week onwards, and I'm in an online buffy game... someday I may actually get a life, but I don't know when I'd have time for it.
Warning: this poster is addicted to ellipses...

I have a web comic called Tears of Eternity if you don't look you'll never know if you would have liked it.

First sketch. Probably about 20-25 more. Just can't scan right now. Too tired.

umm, slowly but surely I think I'm doing other things.

I was starting a book of haiku which has kind of lost steam but writing hundreds of haiku gets kind of taxing.

I'm also writing music and lyrics to hopefully record when I move into my new apartment. I'm either A: Creating an Oxbarf album based on the band in SFF, or creating a compilation of bands in the SFF universe.

I'm also trying to gather the materials to do my own screenprinting. Once I work everything out I plan on selling shirts relating to my comic or to go with other funny ideas I have...

Not doing much these days apart from battling hiatus, but I do have a co-op superhero comic in the works, and I am considering a lego mecha comic as well.
