My comic is SOOOOO delayed.

So I talked to the guy making my website yesterday and he told me it's gonna be another three weeks because he hasn't had time to do it lately. THREE WEEKS. I've been waiting for over a month now, and it's going to be another THREE WEEKS? I give up. I have no idea how to make a website. I have over eighty strips already done. And I even have one comic up on gothymcgee.keenspace.com and I don't know how to upload more or do anything else to it. I'm doomed. Anyone else go through a similar situation?

No. It's not hard and the gear explains how to do it.

Just use the standard website in the meantime.

Yea...I loaded and customized the Ocean template for my site in about 30 minuites. You may want to do more, but go ahead and get the basic comic up and build around it (that's what I've been doing anyway).

I waited 8 months for a site design, and when it didn't show up, I borrowed one of pings templates over at gear.keenspace.com , and then proceeded to butcher it.

Is it really that easy? If so, I'm gonna go over and check out gear. And if I can figure it out, I'm gonna tell that guy to forget it, and maybe kick him in the groin. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah, kicking people in the groin should be a life and death kind of thing. Just watch him sleep and poke him with your index finger every few seconds. It's creepier that way.

A kick in the groin is always appropriate for those who disappoint you.

whoa. Since I posted this, I already set up the site and have Fridays comic up. But lemme ask this, if it's okay to ask in this forum, is there a way to set it up with about twenty comics in the past? I mean, I backdated about twenty of them, and put about two months worth ahead in time. But when I clicked on the previous and first buttons, nothing showed up. Did I do something wrong?

Dunno. When I moved my stuff across from its original little unofficial site I just renamed each strip I already had so that they appeared daily until I ran out and then started up my regular update schedule after that. I didn't worry about back dating them. I was still getting into the hang of how to get cartoons drawn regularly. If I backdated, my original one would have been in October, 2003, nearly ten nine previous. I consider that nine months as the pregnancy leading up to its birth on Keenspace.

I'd just date each of your comics chronologically from today's date so they come out one after the other. If they're already date on the image no worries, that just shows when they were originally made, not when they were published on Keenspace.

Good luck, all the same.

I just used the default template on my own site because I think it suits my comic in some bizzare way. Though I've had some ideas for a more.... *ahem* advanced background.

And as for actually uploading stuff, yeah, that's covered in gear, but it took me a lot of pain and fustration to figure it all out. But oh well.

3 weeks isn't that long in the big picture...

...just use the time to do some more comics.

When I backdated a comic, it showed up in the "past." I wouldn't reccomend it though, unless the first twenty are relevant to a story.

Hey man, what's your comic called! Link us!

Do you still need a webdesigner? I can do a shout out for you on livejournal to see if I can hunt one down...

It is possible to backdate your comics, and if you do it right, they should show up like if you had posted them in the past. If they don't, then you have done something wrong.

By the way, Blackaby: the adress to uncaringmachine's comic is, as he mentioned, http://gothymcgee.keenspace.com/.

Thanks Kalle... I can't read. :(

I dig the comic that is there at the moment, but I'm hitting 404s in the previous... er, and I'm guessing this was mentioned before too...

I'll go climb into the stupid box now.

Backdating is perfectly ok, of course, you have to manually update the site in siteadmin area (where the big "login" on http://www.keenspace.com leads you) before you can see any of it.

Or watch him sleep and then put his finger into a bucket of warm watter.

Site design? We don't need no stinkin' site design!

Eighty comics, you say? That's one mean buffer, man...
