How Can I Promote My Webcomic?
but just because it looks similar doesn't mean it's a clone. It's just a style. That's just like someone saying they don't watch animated movies cause they're for kids.protectmyballs wrote: Truthfully, I'll skip over a comic simply because it does have manga style art. I'd rather look at something original than another clone of [insert subbed anime title].

tell me about it, when I was highschool I was all about anime, and then it became popular....I can hardly even watch real anime or pick up a new manga without being very cautious. Can't even turn on tv without a shitty anime clone*cough*totallyspies and martin mystery especially*cough* . Or crap like both Disney's American Dragon: Jake Long, and Cartoon Networks: the life and times of Juniper Lee. Both about asian teens who have to protect the magic relm, with their grandpa/granma as the people in their line that came before them, each with one younger sibling, and of course, they both have talking pugs. I mean that's the point that it's just ridiculous now. Popularity is blessing and a curse. quality falls, crappy imitation is everywhere. And of course there's the over exposure factor.

Martin Mistery is a rather old Italian comic. Don't tell me they turned it into a manga for a cartoon?
Originally, it was a copy of French school (very simplified, though, as Italians usually do) but had nothing with manga. Heck, it was made long before manga broke through in this part of the world.
Ugh, there's an awfull wanna-be-manga show on Cartoon Network... "Amy and Yumi" or something like that - they tried to make the name cool, so now I can't even remember what it's called... But in core, it's just a ripp-off of Powerpuf Girls.

Fine, fine. That was just my personal opinion.prettysenshi2k6 wrote:The reason for my art being so inconsistant, is b/c I am always trying to find faster, easier ways to make my comic, while still trying to keep it looking nice and sharp. I think that I draw pretty good with a mouse, but I mainly do it b/c I'll be going to college soon, and I might not have access to a personal scanner.
Besides, that, the one where Ida said that I use a felt tip pen, well, I don't use felt tip pens. I scanned my drawing, and went over it with the mouse. It took a long time, but I did like the result.
I'll try to make my comic more consistant, really. If that's a main concern, then I'll try and change it, but I really don't think that my art is THAT bad looking due to drawing it with a mouse. That's just me. I like the current style that I'm using right now, on my webcomic's front page.

Besides, sorry if you felt I was giving unwanted critique. I guess I was just going into review/advice mode due to the 'Webcomic above' thread. i'll keep my mouth shut now.

Trust me, redubbed in English is bad enough. They're originally French.specterz wrote:Oh God, Winx Club. That looks so totally crappy.
Shall I tell you what is even worse than Totally Spies and Winx Club?
Totally Spies and Winx Club redubbed in Dutch. Everytime they put Dutch voices in anything, they always choose the most unappropiate voices available.
Is it bad that I get drawn in to watching them because they're so horrible? Like animated train-wrecks . . . The way, in Winx Club, they always focus on characters that aren't talking so they don't have to animate mouths . . .*shudders*
McDuffies, the show you're thinking of is HiHi Puffy Ami Yumi. The characters are 'based' on a Japanese Pop duo. And yes, it's awful.
So agree with you on that one. Not to mention the zillions of reruns they do of that show on Nickelodeon. I truely hate the accents of those voices.specterz wrote:Oh God, Winx Club. That looks so totally crappy.

Argh, Winx club. I actually tried watching a full episode because it looked slightly intriguing (I am a magical girl geek, after all), but it was just horrible. The terrible CGI backgrounds, the character designs that make the characters unable to walk like human beings, the director's lack of sense of, well, everything (but most importantly timing), and the VOICES. Oh my fucking god the voices!
Then again, I should've expected that. After all, all Saturday morning cartoons are dubbed into Danish by the same 10 people, all of which are unable to act worth crap.

No no no! Anything dubbed into Dutch automatically becomes tough and funny, cos you can never truly tell if the Dutch are angry or swearing all the time! My all time favourite expletive is 'petoffelhoft', which sounds nasty but in reality means 'slipper head!'
I'd watch something dubbed into Dutch just for a laugh!
(Surprisingly I can't read it or understand it too much yet...)
