Comics leaving Keenspot: Does it affect us?
Comics leaving Keenspot: Does it affect us?
So 4 big comics have left Keenspot in the last few months. 3 just this last week alone. Do you think this will affect 'Space in anyway? Will 'Spot be looking for new comics to fill in the gaps? Who knows?!

From what I know (very little) KeenSpot will pull people in from anywhere, I don't know if they have a history of favoring KeenSpace comics to pull into the fold. Being purely objective [Edit: Wait... objective means leaving out an opinion doesn't it? Damn.] here, I don't always enjoy the comics they host anyways, so new additions/leavings don't always excite me.
However, I do greatly appreciate Spot. Without it where would we be?

I doubt it.
They'll pull someone else in who wants a swing at being in KeenSpot, I'm sure there are enough despite what the leavers say.
Only comic I read on spot is CRFH!!!, Most of the others I dont really bother about or hardly update.

Re: Comics leaving Keenspot: Does it affect us?
Probably not, Keenspot does not seem to have a quota to the amount of comics they want. So whenever they feel like it they'll look for other webcomics to join their ranks.starline wrote:So 4 big comics have left Keenspot in the last few months. 3 just this last week alone. Probably somewhere with less restraints/ problems than keenspot. They are probably also following Sluggy freelance who says he tripled his income from his site after leaving Spot.
Lets face it, both the keens have thier problems:
Server hiccups, adverts, the controversy it generates (Which may not be all bad for a comic, but still) can all contribute to leaving.
Keenspot is not a garden of eden, but its no hell either. Go figure.

Hmmn.
Are Keenspace comics revenue-neutral? That is, do we bring in as much money in ad income as we cost in bandwidth?
If not, what will Keenspot do when they're no longer making money because their top comics have fled?
I blame myself for this, you know. Everything I touch turns to dust. My getting hosting here has doomed you all. So sorry.

I'd like to be Keenspotted... If only because I'd like my comic to gain popularity, but I also don't know much about the internet. To have someone there who can help me with whatever, that would be nice.
But that said, I'm not sure that this will have any direct consequences on all of us, or at least if it does, it won't show until much later.

Ditto on both accounts.Ryuko wrote:I'd like to be Keenspotted... If only because I'd like my comic to gain popularity, but I also don't know much about the internet. To have someone there who can help me with whatever, that would be nice.

You gotta keep an eye out for it. But it pops up here and there.Ida wrote:What controversy?DOEvil wrote:Probably somewhere with less restraints/ problems than keenspot. They are probably also following Sluggy freelance who says he tripled his income from his site after leaving Spot.
