I'm in for the regular mini-comic sampler, since I didn't get in on the first one.
As for the other idea about the jam-thing, I might be in, depending on the story and such.

My current preference would be for a series of mini-comics. I'd be all in for that. A jam on the other hand I might opt out on and just wait for the third issue.

I'm in.
I like the coordinated comic idea. Having little sampler comics really only works best for gag type comics, story based comics get screwed and end up either having to do some random action scene or a dialogue sequence that tries to summarize everything about the world and story in 5 lines.

a) We can't use the word keenspace, or keen.
b) Injokes should be avoided at all costs.
We could do a world tour thing. However the whole world tour thing would best be about the real differences in places around the world. The best way to do it and make it interesting would be to base each stop around something to do with the culture in that area. If it's gonna be a world tour, there has to be a good reason for it, again this is the whole avoiding injokes thing.

I am so in on both of these. I'l take a hiatus on my current comic if I have to ^_^.
The sampler idea should pretty much be the same as the last one. So no imput from me on this one.
As for the Jam Idea I like it and agree with War on how this should play out. Original characters, A single short story with each artist doing 3 or so pages. This way we avoid in jokes and get to see a jam in print.

I'm in for the sampler, and possibly the jam, depending on what plot ends up getting used.

Ditto.

Wow, so much discussion already 8) One thing I want to add is, the Judge Dredd thing was fine for SpaceJams but it won't do for a comic that will be distributed and most like sold for money by at least one person, probably more.
We need to keep the characters original and/or use ourselves. Parody is only okay if you have a lawyer.
I don't think it matters if people know who we are if we're characters in the jam. We would just be characters as far as the readers are concerned. If you get a chance to talk to the people reading the sampler then you could point out that "oh, this guy is from Serbia. This one is from Virginia. etc."

War wasn't saying we'd do a Judge Dredd/something else parody, he was just throwing out the comic as an example of a coordinated thing drawn by different artists.
I still like this idea, but as it's been said, the rules would have to be pretty strict and it would require more organization than a sampler does.
I've seen other comic jams (Sexy Losers springs readily to mind) and even though different panels were drawn by different artists, it didn't detract from the overall strip.
And the use of injokes would mean instant death since no one outside of the community would get them. For example: CJ would ask to be dropped off in Canada or RPin would marvel at seeing a squirrel. Funny to us, confusing to everyone else. It'd be easy and tempting for whoever was writing this to fall back on these jokes.

To be blatantly honest, I don't get the funny side of this Kitty Party thing either...and I've been here several long months now...
I've probably missed it, but is there any general date this is planned on being compiled? Just out of interest at the moment...

Hm... I might be interested in this one if the deadline doesn't coincide with my exams or anything.
About the jam... it should be a story that allows us to showcase our comic characters as well, and not focusing on original characters that don't exist outside of the sampler, since keep in mind the sampler IS an advertisement at the end. It won't do to advertise something that doesn't exist outside of the advert.
Also some mention of
previous sampler on Comixpedia.
The mention of Drunkduck sampler using comiXpress intrigues me. Maybe we should check out that approach?

Don't tell me, I've been dragged in as her main enemy or something, and I really tried to keep out of it.

But you're the Baron McDuffies. You didn't have any choice. The Kitty army is just another revolutionary party.
What do you think about having the final submission date being April 1st? It would be a month before finals for most people and if this is a scripted comic, there wouldn't be any requirements for voting on it. We would just send it to cortland to have it compiled and it would be available a week or two before finals start.
However, this means we need to come up with a good script and a list of volunteers by the first week March. That gives people 3-4 weeks to get their comics finalized and posted.
People not in the previous volume get preference but I'm available to do pages and/or cover art. I'm also willing to be a character. Let me think about storyline for a while, though.

Whatever we do, I want in on this. I'll read through this topic more in depth later, as I'm at work right now.

I'd like to be involved in this, although I'm not sure I'll have the time. It depends on what the demands on individual artists are.
As an idea for a plotline, though, try this. Instead of a spacer bus ('someone goes on a trip'), how about a world-shattering event ('a stranger comes to town')?
Something big happens, or is about to happen. (A meteor coming for earth? A supervillain gnome threatening to steal everyone's underwear? The world has run out of pretzle snacks?) A central coordinator says, "We're going to need every researcher/hero/contract worker we've got to deal with this!" That's the opening bit. Then we move on to the individual team stories, each done by a different artist. The team stories contain either new characters or groups of the artist's actual Keenspace characters, and they deal with a portion of the big event in their own way. Then we go on to the next artist, and their take on the problem. Etc. At the end we go back to the central coordinator, who summarizes how the world was saved.
Each artist can do anything they want in their three-page comics, with the one stipulation that they cannot solve the entire problem -- they have to save some for the other teams. They don't need to coordinate or interact at all -- Mindmistress can be protecting the Ukraine from meteorite shards while my heroes save New Jersey. Or Spriteville can be trucking pretzle snacks into his hometown while Cortland smuggles them into his. Each artist can play it for comedy or drama, however they wish.
The only tough role is the central coordinator, who will have to draw the beginning and the end parts and tie everything together. And for that, since he started the thread, I nominate Faub.

Ooo, I like that idea, Remus.
Quick question though: if the jam is separate from the sampler, should we give it its own thread? I'm starting to get confused.

Remus idea seems to be the best one for a scripted story.
I mean, everyone of us has his/her own style and not only about artwork, but also concerning the comic concept, the kind of plot...
Making something like "Continue My Story" (remember that thread in the games forum?), would just show our artwork and not our "writing skills".

ping, as far as im aware the jam was to be a seperate endevour to the main sampler event.
Also - i dont see a problem with Computer art so long as its done with a specific view to making it look nice printed.

I'm assuming I would fit into this category. If I figure I can do it, it'd be in a style more like this.
Linky.
Would that work? Except with more detail paid attention with the background.

We need this to be completely scripted so we can all agree that this is what we want to do. The spontaneous thing is nice, but that's open ended and we have some pretty strict requirements in regards to size to adhere to. If nobody knows what is going to happen next, there's no way to plan for it. You're more than welcome to start a different Jam thread.
The more structured the better for this type of project.
