They're just not as professional as we are.
Well, I do it sometimes too.

It's funny, but I almost always do. For some reason, I see the whole shape of the face in the eyes and how they're spaced.

When I'm drawing without a previous sketch, I start from the eyes. Because it's easier to place the rest around the eyes than to place eyes on the hand in the end. But I often get proportions wrong that way, or it comes out a bit distorted...

By the way I'm not sure if I noticed a trend from those examples:

The people who draw cartoony style art tend to start drawing the faces from the eyes

The people who draw more realistic looking art tend to use face lines.

Anyone else think this?

Nope, pretty much both start with outlining the face, then dividing it to find the spot for eyes and other, and then finally going into details.

If I decide to draw the eyes first, then it's because I'm drawing with a mouse in MS Paint.

I tried using this, but can't draw for crap with the mouse.

I start drawing with the eyes first, too, but I'm not sure if that has any significance. I guess I'm sort of between cartoony and realistic (at least I consider myself to be, I can't know for sure unless someone tells me).

I think it's more habit than anything. I've just always done it that way.

I use face lines, man. Way better. Makes the cartoon feel more solid.

Yay solidity!

And yay tablets! For making me seem like a brilliant artist who can start drawing at any point when I really am not!

Pollock II: Bug Hits Windscreen

The effect produced is eerily, similar, admit it...
