What the hell?

These were taken about 15 seconds apart. Other than cropping them, I have not modified either screenshot. I refreshed both pages several times to make sure neither of them had changed.
This is probably a glitch everyone knows of but me, but too bad

What's the glitch?
The 639 position on the webcomic rank?
That's usual, just for the simple fact there are so many webcomics being voted on at any given time ranks change rapidly.

After checking our actual ranks, it appears that the BCX banners just aren't refreshing properly. I'm actually 609, and a Zelda sprite comic is 639.

The bCx banners actually display the lowest rank for the number of votes you have. So everyone with your number of votes would display a rank of #639 on their banner, even though they might rank higher on the actual list.

Don't feel too bad. I'm being beaten on the keenspace guide by comics that haven't updated since 2003.

I remember when I overtook machall.keenspace.com. There's something about beating a site that doesn't even exist any more that's very satisfying.
Note: As of this posting my ranking has slipped and I'm just BARELY beating the old machall site right now (they have a shocking 0.020% of keenspace trafic and it's all 403s except the front page). They're still beating Comic Creatorz by a sound margin, though. I'll get you machall! Just you wait!

I was being beaten by Jack.keenspace.com for so long, and then I finally defeated it. Jack's really good and I like it, but it moved a while ago on its own. So being beaten by a site that doesn't even have an archive anymore is pretty weird feeling.

The reason it's happening is because some of the old pages in the real machall update were just ported straight from keenspace and the rants link to the keenspace site. People probably wouldn't click it more than once, which means their archives get read almost once for every pageload I get. Scary.

Stats are depressing, for the most part - my rank in the guide just keeps going down and down... At one point, I broke through that mysterious barrier and into page 4, but alas, I've slipped again, as I always do... And I couldn't be bothered to figure out what my rank is on Buzzcomix or the Top Webcomics List - I can't remember the last time I got a hit from either of those sites.
