Last night was the first time I'd watched SNL in months, and I got to see some teenybopper get shamed in a lip-synching screwup. It was a thing of beauty.

The best part was how the band just sort of shrugged and kept playing, like troopers, while she stormed off. And cuuuuuuuuuut to commercial.

I really don't get the point of lipsynching live performances. Surely out of all the billions of people in the world, they can find a few decent singers to be their disposable pop stars? Or is it that they're all just too stupid to remember the words?

I hate manufactured radio-ready pop so I laughed when I heard, but when I saw the video, I felt kinda bad for some reason. Oh well.

(For those who aren't in the know, one time in the 70s, the musician cancelled and Elvis Costello, who was in town, was asked to play on SNL, his hit single being "Radio Radio" at the time. But that song was anti-big networks like CBS, so he wasn't gonna play it at first. He started some other song, and then turned to his band and told them to stop, and then said "there's no reason to do this song here tonight", and they played "Radio Radio" instead, fucking up all the commercial breaks. I'm sure this Ashlee Simpson thing will go down in SNL infamy along with this and the Sinead O'Connor thing)

Does no one perform live anymore. This is just too funny. Taking the cake, the news reported that she blamed the band for playing the wrong song.
