Need some information from y'all.
1) I need basic character descriptions from all of you, either here in the thread or through private messaging or e-mail or whathaveyou.
2) Need to know if y'all want your characters to already know each other, or if you want to do a meeting adventure before getting into the real deal.
3) Need info from Sir Phact about that alternative monk school he was talking about during character creation.
4) Need ham and cheese sammiches. Lots of 'em. Now, dammit.

"Hysterian Sojourner was born into a family of world travellers . . . in fact, she was truly born on the road. Or in the forest a few feet from it, anyway. At an early age, she participated in an ancient family tradition in which she had to travel constantly for an entire year with no coverings on her feet, stopping only long enough to buy food and other supplies along the way, and never across the same terrain twice. Though such a journey took a horrible toll on the girl, Hysterian completed the trial happily and returned to her parents a woman, bearing the scars on the soles of her feet with pride.trinket90 wrote:1) what do you mean, basic character descriptions?
"Since her parents' death several years ago, she has continued to wander the lands, occaisionally taking jobs that require her skills as a rogue to fund her journey. She's a very happy-go-lucky sort, always quick with a laugh or a joke . . . especially when she's been caught with her hands in a pocket or gold pouch that doesn't strictly belong to her.
"She's a fine acrobat, and enjoys using her dexterity to avoid combat more often than not . . . but she'll definitely do her part when it comes to protecting herself or anyone travelling with her."
And so on and so forth.

1) A problem forced Nan's family from their home. Growing up around Rock Gnomes, the differences between Nan Falath and other Gnomes were very apparent. That's why, in her youth, everyone remembered "the shy girl in the corner", though no one could put a name to the face. When a friend said she wasn't going to marry before making it over 100, she proved them wrong by becoming a cleric of Sheyanna Flaxenstrand and marrying several couples. She often has the playful mood of her goddess, taking the domains of Chaos and Healing "so I can bring 'em back up and mess with them more," and taking up the heavy flail, the favored weapon of Sheyanna. Nan is known for her erratic temper and love of silence, often brushing off major injuries, just to go haywire at a minor sound. Most of the time, the only person who knows what's going on in Nan's head is Nan, and Nan prefers to keep it that way.

1)
Jorge was the sole heir of the Augustine name, one that, at the time of his birth, held great prestige and power in the nobility. He was also the one solely responsible for its downfall - his blatant disregard for the rules of ownership, and often for the safety of others, resulted in a rather unceremonious fall from grace.
Now Jorge lives as a wanderer and adventurer, doing odd jobs and helping old ladies cross streets as a front for his real income: getting money however the hell he can.
Jorge's main aim is to get back into the nobility, and he's prepared to lie, cheat and steal to achieve that.
2) Yeah, I'll vote for meeting.

Nope, that name will allow you far too much power and will unbalance the game. You'll have to change it back or you are out, baby, OUT!orion wrote:(changed the name Jim)
Don't know, since I don't know the specifics of orb spells. You have to remember that I'm on a very restricted budget and I don't have every single dang source book under the sun.would it be possible to get a varaition of acid orb which inflicts fire or electricity damage instead of acid?
Is it realistically feasible to balance a scimitar in that fashion without substantially altering the shape?also I was wondering something for the future, would it be possible to get a weapon finesse for scimitar, I know the rules don't allow it but the difference between scimitar and rapier is only 5 gp (which I'm perfectly willing to pay for a "balanced" scimitar) 2 pounds and the damage type.
I always give my people the choice . . . this is actually one of the very few times a meeting adventure has been called for, tho'. It changes things slightly, but I'll figure something out.2) what was 2 again? I can't remember...oh yeah the meeting thing. Those have always been sort of rough for me, but I've learned I also can't judge other groups by mine, so I'll give it a shot.
*munch*4)sammiches!!

well the acid orb is just from the cantrips in the PHB, for all intents and purposes its a form of Frost ray that does acid damage and is an "orb" instead of a "ray" . The orb I'm talking about later is a 1st level spell.
as for realism with the scimitar, I have no idea but yes I'd imagine it would involve a bit of change, I was mainly looking at it from a game balance standpoint. Although based on the illustrations I've seen in the various game books the designs for rapiers and scimitars can be pretty fluid, they can look pretty thin or fairly chunky. Mostly I was thinking of something more as a cinematic rather than realistic interpretation of the weapon. If its a problem then I can always go with a curvy looking rapier.

1) Kei'rei was found on the steps of Iron Hinge monestary in the dwarven mountains as a child. The Monastary itself was populated almost entirely by dwarves and a few humans. as was thier way they took in the small boy and taught him how to do normal day to day work at the monastary as soon as he could walk. On top of the day to day he was soon enlisted into the teachings of the monestary. And practice right beside the other human and dwarven monks. his grace and concentration was even at a young age shown quite great yet the fortitude and strength of his body was not-- which had many problems in his training. Though he never would give up. Kei'rei didn't know the meaning of the word, and continued to train as his "family" did.
It was on his fifteenth year of life that Master Stonekeep came to him and spoke to him of who he was and why he was diffrent than the other monks. he was both excited and scared. But Stonekeep told him not to worry, and he along with the human master Dugall they would be taking him out of his normal studies, so that they could work with him independently. Mainly the masters wanted to learn much from the half elf child as they did wish to help him. and for the next eight years dugall and stonekeep educated him on the ways of the ghost fist as they knew it all the while telling him about the elves and human. These years both frightened the boy and excited him. thier warnings of how elves and humans saw others.. especially others like him would hurt.. and they worked on increasing his awareness and inner strength.
three months ago however, his Masters came to him in meditation and told him that he has learned all they can teach him. as all they knew of the ways of the ghost fist had been taught. to further his training he'd need to continue what was learned on his own and travel to find a master of the fighting style.
Giving him only what they could which was 18 gold pieces, they led him out of the monestary only with coin in his hand, a scroll with fighting techniques and parables of the Ghost fist style, and a monk outfit.
The first town he found he quickly grabbed up the equipment he could buy before setting out on his journey.
Kei'rei is a modest twenty-somthing half-elf with a very fair complexion and long dark brown hair he wears usually tied and covered in a traditional japanese looking kasa. his body is usually completly covered in a light beige monk suit, but if his body is ever seen people would notice the insane amount of scars and wounds on his body from training with the heavier dwarven monks.
having only been out in the real world for about three months, kei'rei is very naive and doesn't know very much of anything about the world. he only knows that he must keep the teachings he's been taught to put some order in this world he does not understand.
