Readership Growth: How much is good?
Okay...a question concerning readership and stuff from the Webaliser thingies...(I know it should be a z in Webaliser, but I'm not American, so put up with it, eh?)
What would you consider a decent percentage growth in those stats over each month? Cos for September (fourth month of records) we got an across the board relative percentage of between 190% to 210%, with Unique visitors reaching nearly 225%.
Not that I'm expecting to repeat those figures for October, but, well, what's a good par to aim for?

As far as what's actually good, its tough to say. Things can vary extremely depending on the individual comic and on the amount of work put into pimping it out.
Sometimes my readership will double from one month to the next, but not that often. Once you reach another point you won't see as much massive percentage increases since new readers will keep coming in at pretty much the same rate unless you get a lot of new links that month. I say if you see an increase it's good, an increase of above 50% is great.

When a comic has just started, it's growth can be over 100% monthly and it's ok. Also, when you start posting on some new forum or get linked by a popular comic, major growth is in order.
But out of such circumstances, I think one can be very happy with any consistent growth.
You have to account that during the summer readership flunks and in fall, it gets back.
I experienced that a year without any promotion whatsoever can damage your readership (not by much addmitedly, but when you think about it, a year without a progress is also a loss) so one should at least occationally pop a fanart or something similar.
Oh, yeah, another thing: thewebcomiclist.com has brought me a whole lot of readers, just as onlinecomics.com did back when they were still young and hip. Gotta account that too.

Quoted for truth. Any amount of going up is good, neh? RotD has been rising slowly but steadily over the past few months, and I'm quite happy with the results, myself.mcDuffies wrote:But out of such circumstances, I think one can be very happy with any consistent growth.
Existence is a series of catastrophes through which everything barely but continually survives.
Wow, really? I get a ton more hits from Onlinecomics.net than thewebcomiclist.com. Like to the point of like 2 or 3 times more....mcDuffies wrote: Oh, yeah, another thing: thewebcomiclist.com has brought me a whole lot of readers, just as onlinecomics.com did back when they were still young and hip. I dunno how many of the buggers are hanging around, but yeah, the numbers were good.Bekka wrote:Hehe, I had a 25% increase and I'm over the moon about it, I think that your comic is doing great if you got so many more readers than last month.
You seem to be doing well enough yourself...I hear about the noob all over the place, so at least people are talking about you

When I drew fanart for EOI, my stats jumped for about three times but only for that month, afther that, they returned to normal.CapitanG wrote:Is it bad that I read this as "My stats are very erotic?"Terotrous wrote:I never have consistant growth. My stats are very erratic.
So I guess I might say that at that time, my stats were very erotic. To girls, at least.
Grow.
You are the Non. You must go now, and never return."
"1.Scan in high res 2.tweak with curves, levels or something to clean up the scan (or use channel mixer to remove blue pencil lines) 3.Add colour using a layer set to multiply. 4.Add wordbubbles and text as vector shapes. 5. Merge all layers. 6.resize to the web size. 7. Export/Save for Web" that's all I know about webcomicking.

Is it wrong that I find this game really fascinating?YarpsDat wrote:Grow.
That's very odd that you all seem to be growing. My average unique visits per month has been remaining relatively stable, if not decreasing. Is this a bad sign? I've been producing daily, the quality is better than that of several months ago, and the site is nicer...
What am I doing wrong, if anything?
(What's really strange is that the greatest readership was during summer, whereas now it is declining, a trend opposite to that of most other comics)
