Eh, eh, Toxic. StRedWolf appreciation thread isn't complete if it isn't an announcement, or at least a sticky.

I'm getting the impression that not a whole lot of people appreciate him, to be put in modest terms.

What, because he killed the XXX thread? Yeah, well if it wasn't for me you wouldn't even have that thread!

Oh no, I personally don't have anything against the guy. I haven't been involved enough to know whether or not he really is a bad or good person. That's just the impression that I got.

Eh. *shrug*

I'm sure StrRedWolf is a decent enough guy. Talked to him way back when nobody's new domains were visible and on IM he worked to fix it. Fixed some other stuff too another time I talked to him.

He just has a belated mallet. Malleted VileTerror after the hubub was over. Killed XXX after tacitly allowing it for years. Broke up the forums against the general disapproval of the forumites. Crashed the forums by destroying threads when Kisai told him not to. That kind of stuff. So he doesn't have his finger on the pulse of the forums. It's probably pretty ancillary to what he does at Keen.

He doesn't tend to explain himself either unless there's a huge uproar. Not that he has to, but it does make for good customer service. But again, customer service probably isn't the major part of what he does.

I'll bet if we knew all that he does do, he'd come out shining pretty mightily like the rest of the admins that donate their time and efforts. So I'm going to give him kudos anyhow. Go StrRedWolf!

Myabe there hasn't been a thread like this before because, to put it bluntly, a lot of people seem to actively dislike him. I've only ever seen his presence on the forums when he was doing something that pissed people off.

And personally, I don't much care for Stalag '99.

This is kind of a weak apprecciation thread. Half the people don't seem to know who he is, and the others are criticizing him.

Sorry.

What Rkolter said. I'll make some fanart tomorrow.
Maybe the reason for the lack of such thread was that Striker already has a comic, while Kisai doesn't?

Put me down on this list. That's why I don't want to post anything here.

well don't forget he wanted to help plug space comics via the spot newsboxes... i don't know if anything has come of that, but it shows his cardiac vessel is in the correct pulminary chamber... (or words to that effect!) :D

Well, he does have his heart on the right place. Problem is, having good intentions is only half of the way, being the other half knowing how to use said intentions.

If I can be blunt for a few seconds, here...

Kelly certainly *did* have good intentions with his whole admin role... his biggest problem, in my opinion is that he got power mad.

Ever since his appointment as a wrangler, I have seen some attitude that was very unwarranted and unjustified -- attitude that reeked of somone on a power trip.

Now, that said, I *do* very much appreciate all the work he *has* done on the 'Space's behalf, no matter the attitude and motivation behind his action at times...

He's made some key mistakes, but I'd like to hope that he's as willing to go beyond that now, and show his more genuine love for the community, a love that I know has always been there, even if at one one time a little muddled by other motives/temptations.

In the end, ANYONE who has tried to help the 'Space in one way or another, no matter their actual status or invovement, should be commended for their community involvement, yep yep.

Well, to be fair, Kelly did set up quite a few things, the web-FTP, the Keenspace Revamp contest, and the new forum mods, to name a few.

He's also the one who gave me the keys to Gear so I could revamp it.

I wasn't around when the XXX thing was on, so I can't say anything, but I remember the Yarpsdat/VileTerror/Death-of-DNR incident VERY well... Kelly does seem to have an unfortunate habit of making impeteous decisions that have made him rather unpopular in some quarters. But honestly, having power and responsibilty that goes with it tends to drive the best of us off our heads sometimes.

Not making any excuses for anyone here, but the most important thing to remember is that behind every keyboard is an imperfect human being. You might not agree with a person 100%, but a little bit of appreciation for their contributions doesn't cost a person anything extrra either ;)
