Maybe Elanor Rigby was ripped on homemade moonshine.

So where' s the jar anyway? I tried to get in but someone moved it, and so the door closed and locked by itself. I HATE when that happens nyo...
Faith is what credulity becomes when it finally achieves escape velocity from the constraints of terrestrial discourse- reasonableness, internal coherence, civility, and candor. Thus, the men who commited the atrocities of September 11 were neither cowards nor lunatics of any sort, but Men of Faith- perfect faith- and this, it must finally be acknowleged, is a terrible thing to be.

Elenor Rigby (Lennon/McCartney)
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been
Lives in a dream
Waits at the window, <b>wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door</b>
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?
Father McKenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear
No one comes near.
Look at him working. Darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
<Chorus>
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
<Chorus>

Sometimes I need to realise that I am a little older than the average user here. I thought being a Beatles song it would have been recognisable, even if it was released in the early 70's.
I will try to keep my cultural references more modern from now on.

"Eleonor Rigby" is a fairly popular song nowadays too. I think it's a good chance that someone would reckognize a reference, just like with a reference from, say, "Let it be" or "Yellow submarine", and without being a little older or Beatles fan (like me). It's a fair use.kamikazesniper wrote:I recognised it! Do I win a prize? Anyone....?Cow! wrote:Sometimes I need to realise that I am a little older than the average user here. I just assumed everyone knew where that reference came from. BTW, is it true they got the name from a shirt's tag?

You are absolutely correct. It WAS 66. REVOLVER? I think that is right. Man.. I REALLY need to get re-aquainted with my Vinyls. I dont think that cabinet has been opened in over 12 years. Of course, it would help if I had a turntable. *sigh*
But thanks for the correction, AND the humorus way you delivered it.
Appreciated.
