Sounds good. I just hope he is not making decisions for people. The most pathetic example of an act I have heard him doing is going to the white house or some government place and asking senators or some government people to sign up their kids to the army.

Anyway, I am glad for your response. You have convinced me to see it. I am just hoping it uses more solid reasons than argumentative shenanigans. You seem to be saying this is so.

Maybe people should hold back criticizing the movie until they've... you know, seen it. I've already heard of a bunch of people going into the movie having read negative reviews about it and being skeptical, and walking out talking about how full of crap they were.

Say what you will about Moore, but most "debunkers" actually tend to be far more dishonest then Mike.

Actually, I think he was just passing around a petition. You know, get members of congress to *suggest* their kids enlist.

Originally I was going to avoid seeing it not because of anything bad I heard about Moore. I am very powerful. Seeing the film would not change my perspective at all. Only I can change it. The reason I did not want to see it is because it was given an R rating, most likely because it contained bloody scenes from the war. I am very weak to that sort of stuff. I would rather not see suffering.

I don't know, man. I think it still sounds somewhat completely stupid.

Anyway, I saw the movie. It was great. I did not see any of Moore's previous work, so I underestimated him a lot. I thought he was going to display a particular point (such as Bush staying in the school,) and then press that point (such as show the whole seven minutes of Bush staying in the school.) But, he did not. He just barely touched that video and did not really suggest anything. He used a passive voice, which is what I do in my writing. And, his editing (timing, etc.) felt like the work of a perfectionist. He worked hard on this film. Great.

I know he simplified many situations to his advantage, but I am very happy he made the film and happier yet that it is being shown all around America.

I liked a few things in particular...the Iraqi (I think) woman cursing America, asking God to avenge her. Also, the revealing of the stupidity in the colored "terrorist threat" levels that the government was/is using. Their stupidity annoyed the fuck out of me when I first heard about them.

Just got back from it myself, and know I get the whole Bush lazing around the school a lot more.

He heard the tower got attacked -- while still on the way. A place that had previously been attacked. He goes anyway.

He's pretty well just gotten there -- "The second tower has been hit. America is under attack."

With that, I'm off to ponder the finer points about the film; ie: Is Bush just a horribly corrupt corporate whore, or an incompetent puppet? Both? You decide!

Ah, yes, the codes. Last year I applied for a visa extension permit around March. The guy saw me, saw my visa, typed on his PC, took my money, and gave me the thing.

A little later, I had to apply for the permit again, since I kinda left it on my pants when I put it the in the washer, but this time the threat level had been raised. The guy looked at me, and then demanded proof that I was who I said I was, that I lived where I said I lived for the last five years, that I worked where I said I was currently working, that the breed I said my dog belonged to was indeed the breed my dog belongs to, that... you get the idea. Needless to say, I had to go home and return with a truckload of papers and documents if I really wanted that permit that much. And needless to say, I didn't go back.

Annoyance doesn't even BEGIN to cover it.

If memory serves, he wasn't asking them to sign their kids up, it was a petition to see whether they'd want their kids to go off to fight in Iraq or not.

I think you are right. Also, he was not going for anything practical. He was making it effectively known that the guys in charge of sending America's children to war are not sending any of their own children.

Moore really did impress me. His timing with humor was really good, too.

I dislike Bush, I dislike him for multipul reasons most of which aren't going to be considered in the up coming election, like him supporting and trying to pass(it's in the courts last I heard being contested) a ban on abortion, I'm pro choice, yep yep, but I'm also pro life(in certain circumstances). The ban they are proposing would not only ban regular abortion it would ban all of them, if you've been raped, we don't care, if carrying to term will kill you, we don't care, you can't think about anything but what's growing inside, regardless if you have other children that need you.

Ok, we all have our different opinion on politics (and t.v. violence apprently) and that's a good thing. But I don't want Bush back in office. Maybe I'm desentitized to violence, having my childhood would do that to anyone, you don't need t.v. to do that to you. One of my best friends is over in Iraq right now, I don't agree with the war, but I don't think we should just pull out either. We need to finish what we started, and not just because it would look like we're running back with our tails between our legs. We aren't the only ones over there. Ehh I'm rambling, basically I think we need to clean up the mess we've made, do the rebuilding we promised, take better care of our soliders...hmm anything else..oh yes.. get rid of most of politicians and put real, decently smart people from the working class as at least advisors. I think one of our biggest problems is that our government is so removed from the majoritys situation that they don't understand the effects their decision are making on the people who are the backbone of this country.

As for the first comic, I get it, I don't find it all that funny but my sense of humor is odd.

The second one seems out of poor taste.

No one seriously suggests pulling out. People just need to realize that they shouldn't be there in the first place, and the people who've created this mess need to be held accountable.

farhenheit 9/11 should be opening up down here soonish - looking forward to seeing it. funny how only mega-blockbusters get a global release date (eg spiderman 2)... while we're still waiting for hellboy, chronicles of riddick...
