Oh! I've been meaning to get another submission ready for that!

I had a submission for HNTRAC a week or two ago, but I put it in my pocket and forgot about it instead of scanning it and emailing it. Is there a "how not to submit to HNTRAC" category coming up?

I actually use both digital and traditional. Some stuff if scanned and computer inked while other stuff is vector drawing done in illustrator. My avatar, for example, the head was done in illustrator while the body was hand drawn and scanned.

Who needs to be consistent and introduce the reader slowly and thoughtfully? If you've got well-thought out characters, you can just toss 'em right into the thick of it! For me, it's a matter of coming up with the most random ideas and putting them down in such a way that people might possibly find amusing. Consequently, my comique very rapidly throws random things at people and has random events occur in quick succession. Oddly enough, the characters seem to take it all in stride, which is more than I can say for the readers....

I pretty much break most of the rules and run contrariwise to most peoples' advice here, and my comique seems to do pretty well...

For example, I do not use ink pens. I use the eraser only sparingly, and I don't use a ruler. I sketch in the margins of my homework, mostly, and draw/handwrite most of the strips on cheap 9" x 12" paper that I steal from the art room. You don't need any of these, really.

If you've got a good enough concept and good enough art skills, you can make it.

Someone has to, because if we didn't, doing the oposite wouldn't be anything special.

Does anyone know if the name "Short Attention Span" has been used for a comic? It was suggested i use that for a comic name.

Google it and see.
I doubt it though, it won't really matter though anyway.

Ban the Basics is about genius students with really short attention spans. Of course, I started reading an never finished the archives. For some reason I couldn't stay focused long enough.

And not just one nice cover, this thing's got covers! It's more covers than pages! You open it, and there's another cover! And another! And another! And each one nicer than the last!

McDuffies, you know I mean no offense at all when I say this but sometimes the fact that English is your second language sometimes makes for some great lines.
This still manages to crack me up. Second panel especially.

Y'know, if you've got more ideas than you can reasonably cram into one comic, you could always do what Noise Monkey and I did--run several comics on the site at once. We've got three running right now--Vapor Lock, Crooked Halo, and Troubled Times. They're all completely different from each other, though they're all linked in little ways (a recurring character who seems to show up in all three from time to time, references to various things, etc.).

You could also set up a sort of collection of short-story comics, as it were. Rather than have one comic that incorporates all of your ideas, have a set of comics that tells one story. It could be five or six comics long, or it could be thirty, or it could be one hundred, just however many comics it takes to tell that story. Then start another story. You could link them by basically having them all be stories set in the same world, though not necessarily featuring the same characters. It could actually be rather clever, if you did it right.

Heh, youre lucky, mate, when i startd Felney i had plenty of ideas to show up the racism and absurdity and stupidity of where i live, but after 3 years it has kind of worn thin. I did toy with the idea of a totally new comic starring me and my mates, with actual real people in it, not made-up characters, but i will probably make that totally seperatley and keep Felney the same. When i do have comic ideas they are often different things that would not fit in with Felney, even though that is my websites main attraction i doubt people ever venture further into my site to see my other comic strips that i make up, such as "Zombie shock massacre" and "Queer as fuck" (and some of "The fourth reich" should be going online soon..)

So..yeah, starting a comic is good if you have a TON of ideas and know that they wont run out qucikly , as mine did (well to be fair i made them fairly consistently for about 2 years, then in 2003 it all went a bit wrong and most of the time i wasnt even posting comics, but fake newspapers)

"Zombie Shock Massacre" is the best name ever for a webcomic!
