OK, as long as this thread is still alive and kicking, I might as well as my own pic to the bunch.
That's my brother and me, circa 1984, playing around with our family's 128k Mac (I'm on the left with the dark hair). Oh yeah, we still have it, and it still works.

Lucky bastard. My family did not get a computer until I was seventeen. *cries, waves arms randomly*
I thought all one needed to effectively erase something on their harddrive was to replace the memory space it occupied with something else. I do not doubt memory recovery techniques, though, so if I ever have to delete something securely, I will throw my whole computer into a volcano.
But, then again, some idiot kid would probably dig it u...! YES! GREAT. I CAN NOW continue my incredible story!! *shreek* I had been stuck for a while. <_<
Anyway, some idiot kid would probably dig it up and his retarded-but-good-with-computers uncle would recover the data and find all sorts of things, and it would create a huge controversy. I can see the digital floating headlines now.

Computer forensics is good enough to recover something that was overwritten once, but not 10 times.
The reason "simply erasing" a file doesn't get rid of it, is that up untill MS DOS 5, files were actually erased, after 5.0, only the filename was erased, but the file data was still there, and you could undelete it easily. Most people when they give away their computer either quickformat the drive or delete all the files they don't want the next person to know about. However you can recover stuff that was simply erased once.
Magic word not to say when taking your computer in to a shop "deleted stuff", because that's an invitation for the tech to go undeleting things. And yes I did do this once because the guy's "kids" deleted something, but all they deleted was the pictures they sent over ICQ.
Anyways, not to take the thread off tangent...
I don't post pictures of myself unless I intend to meet the person, or have no intention of meeting the person and can trust them. Otherwise you get stuff like "blurry catgirl".

Taken sometime in the 80's. Just imagine how sexy I am now that I have my manly features.
Witness my awesome crossstitching skills.

Aye, it's a bit of a pain. Easiest option, blank the partition tables in the first sector, then format. For government security standards every sector has to be overwritten a minimum of 3 times, we use a program created by Sophos for this. Military requirements is 7 times or more.
If you ever come across an operational prototype military computer system, the root password is password.

I pre-apologize to RPin, because he can never see anything I post.
1984... I was so cute with my blond pigtails. And that guy I have in a head lock is my brother. He's six in this picture, I'm 2.

I don't mean to keep things off-topic, but bleh.
This morning, I had something happen to my computer, and it won't turn on now. I had to take it to the shop to recover my important files (drawings, documents, blah blah blah). I hope he doesn't try to recover anything but those folders I asked him to - I have about 500 meg of mp3s, a bootleg Harry Potter 3 movie, and some Sega Genesis ROMs. Uh oh.

Mine died too... I'm pretty sure the power supply went kaput. Got another one coming in, hope thats actually the problem... I think that new radeon card drew too much current for my crappy ps.
I miss my computer! I'm stuck with this one for the next couple days...

Eh, actually, I don't show people my pictures, either. At least not my current pictures. I'm a bit too shy I guess. Also, when I say I am sexy, I am obviously just kidding. <_< >_>
Sega Genesis ROM's...is Ecco the Dolphin a Genesis game? I should know, seeing as I am an insane fanatic of videogames and I'm going to be a game programmer and eventually designer. I ask about Ecco because you have/had some Ecco link on your site.
I am looking for a particular Genesis ROM called something like Blaster Master 2. I don't know if it's any good, but the original for NES is my favorite game.
Heres my jacket.

It has been my experience, having once worked in the computer tech field, that all service technicians, when they're alone in their lab with your machine, will search every square inch of your hard drive looking for porn, even deleted porn.
They won't give a shit about the bootleg stuff. They will joke about the porn they find behind your back and if they find kiddie porn they'll usually call the cops but will just think you're a sick bastard if all they find is pictures of people screwing sheep.
If they avoid eye contact when you pick up the machine and get a little flustered you'll know they've been looking through your porn.

Ecco the Dolphin has two games for Sega, two for Sega CD (which are just fancy rehashes of the original two), and a stunningly beautiful game released on Dreamcast/Playstation 2. All the games are fricken' HARD, but they're too much fun (for meee, anyway).

I don't have much porn, but I'm not gonna lie and say it's not on the laptop.

I have some yaoi, too. Nooo, I'm not a "YAOI IS TEH HAWT," person - My friend randomly kept sending me this lesbian photo for no apparent reason, so I thought it'd be funny to send him a yaoi picture. I found a really good, nasty one, and it shut him up really quick.
But if the techs find THAT thing on my computer, you BET they'll be giving me some flustered looks.
Back on-topic: AREN'T PHOTOS GREAT? YEAH!

This is an extremely poor quality pic, being from a webcam and all, but I think it gives some idea of what I look like.
Edit: When I did the charicature I use for an avatar I had not had a haircut or beard trim in awhile and had different glasses. Trust me, it's a pretty accurate idea of what I looked like a few weeks ago.

Ah, now I remember. The Sega CD versions had CD-quality sound.

I know about the Dreamcast one. Its story was written by David Brin, my favorite sci-fi author. There was also going to be a 32X version that was canceled. I have a short video of the title sequence thingie.
I just realized that "canned" is probably a short version of "canceled." I own.
Pictures are great. I might just upload a picture of my foot.

Yes, it is, isn't it?
To bad they didn't come out with very good games for the Dreamcast.
On Tech TV, they still talk about what a great system it was.
IMO, the graphics are even better than the PS2's.
Which is not saying much.
The PS2's graphics
suck... Play the XBox verson of Splinter Cell next to the PS2's verson; and you will find yourself gagging at the horror the PS2 presents you with.
Truely.

I agree with the DC's graphics looking better than the PS2's. The PS2 has antialiasing and graphics memory transfer speed problems.
In descending order of power, the current systems go
XBox
Gamecube
PS2

It's like taking your film to be developed, if you are going to take pictures of things -NORMAL- people take, nobody cares, but if you start taking pictures of boobies, the people running the film developing occassionally copy them, and if they see any kiddie porn, they call the cops.
To steer this thread back on track, I always hated how I looked, and never publicly show pictures that positively identify me. I have two versions of the "fuzzy catgirl" picture, a color one and a greyscale one, nobody can tell it's me in the greyscale one, but the color one was altered to not look like me at all, but nobody has seen it.
Oh what the hell... these are uncensored, but I take terrible pictures.

This is not a photoshop, the camera actually generated that.

And some really bad photography about two weeks ago. I tend to quickly look away from the camera... I have worse pictures where I roll my eyes at the camera or shut them entirely as the flash goes off, so it's hard to keep a smile without feeling silly.
I know someone is going to say "why are the pictures so small" ... cause they load in 1 second on a 56K modem.
