If I may attempt to offer a unique compromise:
What if Off-topic had three mods?
mcDuffies( profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6687 ), representing the conservative forum-goers,
rkolter( profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=15292 ), representing the inoffensive centrist conversationalists,
and VileTerror( profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=16759 ), representing the fanatical liberal posters.
Does anyone object to this plan?

The words of the english language cannot convey how strongly I object to that plan.
Which means I do object.
(BTW, weren't you supposed to limit yourself to just one account?)

I agree with what Ghastly said about how splitting up forums just deadens them. I want reviews HERE.
VT as a co-moderator?
Why, that's as perposterous as an Austrian Bodybuilder / Movie Star becoming governor of California!
Sheets. VT and DM get my vote for moderators of off-topic as far as I'm concerned. It's not like there's a lot to risk in OT.

Just to let people know, the forums are -NOT- in danger of running out of space, it's a technological coding problem of long threads. Anyone who is a moderator or admin can NOT login to the forum if any thread is longer than about 30 pages. This can be fixed, but again that is up to nate/gav giving kelly and I shell access to the forum server. Working from inside the DB can only move and delete stuff IN the forums, not change the forum code.
auto-pruning, should actually not be enabled at all on such large forums as it's a performance penalty. It should be run as a back-end script, but again, I don't have access to it.

And why do you think it's a question of political orientation? It's a question of forum appearance and if you forgot, I'm the good guy.
And where the hell did you get the idea that I'm conservative?!?

I fired off a prune of Dropdowns/Crossovers, which I belive should of updated those thread counts. If not... well, I do want to integrate the dropdowns into one area (gear).
Anyway, mcDuffies I just modded into Forum Games too... and there was a bit of discussion about Battle Royale there...

I think there can be a compromise between VileTerror's and STrRedWolf's methods. Here's one solution:
Set up a voting system for each thread and let community members themselves decide whether it should be kept or not. We can give each thread or posting a specific rating. If there's any rating abuse, the admin can look through it and make a judgement as to whether it's proper or not, though I think the majority of posters here are quite rational.
I don't know how easy it is to implement, but I think it's worth a shot if it is not impossible to do.

Not to derail the current discussion (one mod would probably work), but the new Pitchin description talks about reviews. Is this in opposition to critiques? Are they the same thing?
For me, a critique would be something aimed at the creator, breaking down specific problems that need to be worked on and the strengths that should be continued, noting progress and pointing out things for the future. A review would more be toward the viewer, with a brief synopsis and more general "this is a little weak, but this is really cool," all under the thesis of either "You should check this out" or "Forget about it." Is this the line we should draw between TTT and Pitching? Or are we combining the two? I don't think I'd like the latter.
