Just thought I'd sit here and brainstorm some possibilities for content, to give folks a hand at getting ideas:
Napolean & Josephine
Othello/Desdemona/Iago
Elizabeth I & Walter Raleigh
Richard Burton & Liz Taylor
Thomas Jefferson & Martha
JFK & Jackie
Robert & Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Romeo & Juliet (of course)
David & Bath-Sheba
Katherine & Heathcliff
Rhett & Scarlett
Peter Abelard & Heloise (could get messy)
Henri of Navarre & Gabrielle
Bonny & Clyde
Henry Miller & Anais Nin
Victoria & Albert
Jason & Medea
Venus & Adonis
Samson & Delilah
Selene & Endymion
I think that's enough brainstorming for now. Hope this helps!

Are Tristan and Isolt up for consideration?
I was thinking more of Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre, or Hannah Arendt and Martin Heidegger, actually...

How about
Arthur/Gwenhwyfar/Lancelet or
Morgaine/Arthur? (yes, I know sis/bro stuff is sick, but that's Mists of Avalon

)
Erm, then there's always this legend about Merlin and this woman who sacrificed themselves... ah, I can't remember it. Does anyone know any Eastern love couples. Shiva and whats-his-name? Or the 'famous' Russian fairy tale about Ruslan and Liudmila (I was so in love with that story when I was a child!).
Anyway, just some ideas...

My understanding is that it's up to the pair of people to choose whomever they wish to display. But even better than that:
I've already got my JFK / Jackie one worked out. Whoever I pair with - we can submit two. I'll contribute a character for their idea, and they contribute a character for mine. Twice the fun!

I'm trying to think of some destructive couples, but none come to mind....Someone could do the Marquis de Sade/housemaid/butler/footman/anythingwithapulse.

What the heck, I'll give this a try. (Sent an email just to be safe, too.)
Though however it works out, it'll have to be something a little more mainstream for me - I'm not recognizing a lot of these names
Or at least, give me something to reference.

Well, with the internet at your fingertips, all these names are easy to look up!

Well, I'd *like* to join in, but as my normal comic is behind schedule, I guess I'd better pass this time. These events always sound like so much fun, and then I don't have the time to do them, due to college or whatever.
It'd take time to discuss things with one's partner, then more time to draw out the strips. I need to get my schedule back in order--both in life and comics--so that I can get more done.
. . . Well. Maybe next time. In the meantime I can do smaller things.

Okay, Tim, you're in
And if anybody has problems with some names of historical/mythical persons in the list, try this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page&e=1102
It's a good encyclopedia and should give information for many names

and if this doesn't work, just ask.
@ somesuch: it's sad you don't have enough time now, but maybe the next time?
