Sweet mother of an almighty I don't believe in!!!
Okay, I tried writing an outline of all the things I want to put into "The Superheroine WrongWay".
Problem, it's 52 chapters long for the first incarnation. Weekly, the comic would take the average number of comics/chapter in years to complete.
I'm in the double digits and growing with the first chapter. I do not want to take decades to finish incarnation 1, and my schedule doesn't allow for any update schedules better than weekly. (I think weekly might be pushing it).
I'm thinking of going back to the original written style of a ficition novel, but want some input from the rest of you.

Heh - I've been working on a couple of novel ideas for a long time, when suddenly I came up with the GateCrosser concept which only worked as a comic. So, since I know it'll work as a comic, that's what I'm doing with it. If you've got an idea that you think will work best as a novel, then do it as a novel - no point in trying to force yourself to draw faster or anything like that when it just may not work for you as a comic.

Um...do both?
Seriously, though, if you've got it all written down, do the SMART thing...
Give the outline to someone else to read.
Writers. Can. Not. Edit. Their. Own. Work. This includes cutting things down. I am breaking many rules doing my comic completely on my own. It is scary. Oh, and one person who wrote a novel (I think it was War and Peace, but it might be some other insanely long book) had it delivered to his editor in a crate. It made a stack as high as the top of a grand piano.
If you give it to someone else to read, they will point out the mistakes you've made, the places that are a bit heavy-handed and the places that are threadbare...and if you tell them you want to trim, they'll trim. You won't like it very much, but they will trim.

I say go with the comic. If you have the entire storyline finished or at least outlined, then it at least shows that you do have some commitment to the comic. I see nothing wrong with telling a story over an extended period of time, even several years. Although I could be biased since that's what I'm intending to do....heh.
David Willis of It's Walky! has been telling his current story for..what is it now? Over 5 years? He's just now going to finish it this summer...and it's becoming apparent that he had mapped things out years in advance.

Hint: if you want genuine advice, don't put a gag poll option that everyone will vote for in an attempt to be funny.
I say either SERIOUSLY edit down/accelerate your story, or consider going for a graphic novel sorta thing, with a few pictures on each page but LOTS of words. That would mean you would only have to draw the pics for the best scenes!
