"When I was a little boy, I believed that if you put a tooth under your pillow, a fairy would come in the night and take away the tooth and leave a dime. Now, I believe in myself more than anything. And I suppose in a way, that's also believing in God. If there is a God and He made you, then if you believe in yourself, you're also believing in him. So I think everybody should believe in himself. That doesn't mean you've got to believe in heaven and hell and all that stuff. But it does mean that what you are and what you do is your religion."

My take on the movie:
Haven't seen it.

My take on religion: ... I agree with TheGoobla.
except he keeps mistaking "you're" and "your"- I don't agree with that.

And I invented the oposite of Pascal's wager:
if the God is all good and forgiving, he'll forgive you for beeing atheist/agnostic/follower of an other religion.
Okie wrote:"Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear." - Thomas Jefferson
yeah, that too.

xmung wrote:dark magician claims to be god. but i think the goobla has too. and yarps claims to at least be a mini-god (whether that means he is a god of small cars, or short skirts, i am not sure). do any of you guys have a son who kicked around jerusalem about 2000 years ago by the name of jesus?
I'm simply a small god. And it sure wasn't my kid.

My take on the troll:
Matt Lim wrote:As in the case of this troll, he was definitely looking for a fight and got it. Now his pride is all hurt no one thought he was cool and is retreating while saying, "Oh yeah, well I meant to piss the fuck out of you guys and prove me wrong! I am TEH ROXXORS anyway! :P " So I say:

Good riddance.
And now he edited his messages.
Yeah _that_ will make me like him straight away. Dude, I still remember! And now I hate you twice: for trolling, and for deleting.

Funny thing is, if you said "I'm sorry, I won't do that again." it would solve both of these problems.

You want to know what I think?

Well, section8phoenix, I think that if you ever need help, or tips, or comments, or support, or advice, you won't be getting any. Congrats.

Was it good for you as it was for me?

Maybe, but at least they don't fly airplanes into buildings. Or strap bombs onto themselves before stepping onto a crowded city bus. Or kill their daughter because she had premarital sex. Or........

Oh it was wonderful you're right.

And I did edit my messages, because part of me thought, hey, these are kind of bad, and I don't think I ought to leave 'em up there. Kind of like spraying grafitti with mustard and ketchup---Seems like a great idea at the time until some 5 year old get some in his eye and goes crying to mom and dad and then they come back bitching at me. Nice thing to know is that you can always go back and wash it up.

Hmmmm and as for apologizing? I dunno yet. You keep referring to this him guy which makes me believe I wasn't the only one making trouble... unless you're just assuming that I'm male... again.

Going back to the movie (I think I'm still the only one who's seen it), one of the absolute best things about the movie was Mary. Not only did Mel Gibson make the movie about Jesus' suffering, but he put a lot of attention on Mary and how this was affecting her as a mother. A lot of the scenes with her were some of the most emotional and powerful ones in the whole movie. You really see how this was such a horrible ideal for her, and that she suffered just as much as God suffered watching her son be tortured to death. There was a lot of humanity in this movie, a lot more than you see in most films these days.

Just wanted to throw that in too. Cheers!

The only way to be happy is to live a life according to your beliefs.

. . . And that's why everyone should lay off everyone else's. *shrugs*

I probably won't see the movie. I just have no interest in it.

Oh, and sekshun8phoenix? You've been downgraded from female to male because of your abhorrant behavior.

But what if your belief insists you must press ones belief on everyone else? Then can one never achieve happyness or should just stop believing? O.o

Amen to that!!!

It seems like the only movies we get nowadays are orented either around violence or sex. You either hit the guy or you sleep with him.

Movies made in the last year that have not been (that I have seen)

LOTR: The Return of the King
Master and Commander.

Hum...two! Wow.

This is precisely why I don't usually go to the movies. For the Passion I made an execption, but I think the amount of gore detracted from the emotional weight of the movie. At least for me it did, I guess it had the opposite effect for others.

I actually don't mind a lot of violence in a movie as long as the focus is on the people and not the violence.

There are some really gory scenes in some of my favorite movies (We Were Soldiers and Heavenly Creatures would probably have some of the worst) but the whole movie doesn't focus on how many bad guys you hit.

I think the gore was NEEDED in the Passion. It shows how bad Jesus really had it, whether you believe that he is the Son of God or not. The emense violence also humanized Jesus. He was a person just like you and me. I think that is what makes this movie great. Even powerful people have the same fears and feel pain jsut like us.
