Let's talk politics!

So, i was watching the news today (mainly because my dad left it on... and i'm too lazy to turn it off) and it seems that airline passengers are being color-coded based on their "threat" level. I personally don't like to be screened like that, and I can't really see why this is necessary. Seems DHS is being a little over-zealous... again.

And whats with everything they put out being color coded?

The colors wouldn't mean much if you were colorblind.

grey for bad, dark grey for not so bad, off white for good... who knows. It's like saying Defcon Orange. Yea, that makes sense. Why can't they just use numbers?

Numbers aren't that fun. ;)

Damnit, did we lose that thread about color codes? Anyone has a copy?

colors, numbers; what's the difference?

Well, first off, colors are evil (i.e. your "bringer of seizures"). Besides that, using colors seems like its made by a kindergardener. Maybe they should change your SSN to a fingerpainting picture.

Maybe there's a better way to categorize, but I'm guessing that's what the gov't has decided is easy to remember. The whole color spectrum runs from hot to cool. Something like that.

I can't think of a better model on the spot.

But I'd go for fingerpainting my SSN. That'd be pretty cool, actually.

Most likely they use colors because colors are universal. A number system is different depending on the place your from. It's easier to document passangers that don't speak english with a color code than it is to have someone who can count to 10 in 45 different languages in every airport. That's why I think it's done in colors. I'm not sure, this is just a guess, but I think it makes sence. And as for documenting passangers this way, I don't see what the fuss is about. So what? Unless you're trying to fuck up the plane and they KNOW you are, you're going to just get a green sticker on your passport or whatever it is. I don't think I'm going to have any major issues with a green sticker.

Hell yeah! I hope I get red!

I also hope that red means "evil beyond belief", cause if it means "happy fluffy bunny", I'm outta here.

Anyway, about this thing, isn't this what the government's been fighting against forever? I mean, they made little old ladies take off their shoes in airports to "make it fair", and to not discriminate against other races. Now, they make it blatantly obvious if they're discriminating against other races - unless, of course, my grandma shall be labeled "dangerous" to make it fair again. Whatever. This is probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.

Talk about politics?

Here's a better idea! Let's stab each other in the face!

That has to be one of the most blatant comic-derailing posts I've ever seen. Except for the fact that it was derailed already.

I love that part in that movie.
Which one was that?
The Last Crusade, I think?

Now I want to watch it, but I can't because we don't have the DVD, and I've watched the tape so many times it doesn't work anymore...

Sorry, there's just two things I believe should never be discussed in forums: politics and religion.

The end results are the same, so we should just start off stabbing each other without the middle part

If I'm not mistaken it's off of Raider of the Lost Ark.

Well, this topic has joined oh so many others in the damnation of lost threads. I think that the only thread that isn't there is that "Random" thread.

the way to derail the random things thread would be to start discussing an actual topic in it (probably not religion or politics or there will be stabbing), and no matter how much someone tries to steer it off course everyone else brings it back to topic.

Yup, you're right! And also in the Temple of Doom he's about to do the same scene but then he realizes he lost his gun
