poop...

Post by Jeffy »

okay, here's a story, i got home from work one night and decided to try and set up a RAID array on my computer, so that I could have my Windows XP Pro hard drive, my storage hard drive AND a Windows 98 hard drive connected so that I don't have to partition my main hard drive, and so that i could also have 2 cd-rom drives a floppy and my zip drive all hooked up.

this is all because i need 98 to play a certain game that doesn't run as well in XP. anyway, so i play around for about an hour and then, suddenly, my storage hard drive isn't being detected, long story shorter, I had to reassign the storage drive because i apparently lost all the information (over 25 gigs) on it while trying to get the RAID array set up to my satisfaction.

luckily, i was able to restore about 15-20 gigs of that information thru old cd-rom backups i had laying around, unfortunately, i lost all my comic stuff and can't find anywhere that was backed up

although i can go to the FTP and download it, it just makes it that much harder for me to start the comic back up whenever i get out of the army, the end

Speaking of death to computers, mine packed up last friday.

T'was really weird, just reset itself, Win 2000 loading screen came up as per usuall, stopped, threw up ``NToskrnl.exe corrupted j00 f[_]x0red,'' at me and resetted from there only to repeat itself indefinitely. Huzzah! Took it to my brother's place (best way to fix a computer is to have a hundred other computers to loot from) couldn't run win2k repair since my Win2000 CD went whack, tried some somewhat illegal Win 2000 CD's but still no play.

Eventually slapped the HD into another computer, formatted it, slapped it back into my computer nice and clean for a new install but still no freakin' play! AUGH!

3 Days later I waited until my brother was asleep and knicked his computer, bwahaha! He suspects nothing! It's quite a computer too; AMD 2600+ XP, 1.5gb of RAM, 200gb of HD space and soon an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. WOOO YAY!

Moral of the story, resort to petty crime.

computer problems suck. I just got an 800$ dollar machine that is capable of running all the games I play, or at least running them so they don't look like bad stop-motion animation. Then less than 2 weeks after I get it it shuts itself down and doesn't get back up, so far I still don't know why.
NJ is also Orion's fiance of sexy passion with the love of a thousand sea monkeys

I'm not seeing it. If you don't have the cabling to hook up three drives, two cdroms, your floppy, and your zip NOW, how does RAIDing your system help? Did you get a seperate raid box with a scsi cable running back to your system?

Denial is not falsification. You can't avoid a fact just because you don't like it.
