I pretty much suck at "organic" backgrounds. Only thing I know I can make look OK is houses and such. :P But then, one of my reasons for drawing a webcomic is to increase my drawing skills, as I will kind of *have* to draw once a week, thereby getting regular practice. And I also have to draw the backgrounds that will fit to the story, so I'll have to try making some good landscapes and such. ;)
Not using Keenspace, I just am here. For some reason. Probably because I'm making a webcomic. Yeah.

He ment me. I ate my wife

Anyway, I'm not in a sweet department, I like a good eat, though, pasta for instance. I've been hooked on chinese sweet chicken and stuff lately, but my true and eternal love is...
...chilli sos with tortilla chips from a local mexican restaurant. Mmmmm, hot but not too hot...

Although I like hot , I could never understand those people who eat a chilli pepper in one piece and then say: "Eh, they don't grow these as good as they used to be."

Oh, yeah, welcom! Hope you're having a good time,.

Before I started my comic, I was pretty much only drawing people too. But now with SAVAGE BEATINGTM, my backgrounds are fantastabulous! (see "Opportunities for Marketers" thread)

But really, I'm glad to hear you're going to work on your backgrounds; my backgrounds used to be utter crap. Now they're just.... somewhat crap. :D

Same here. Practise makes perfect (I hope).
And backgrounds are damn important, sure they take a bit of work, and they don't give you the instant gratification of having drawn a kick-ass character. But they are really important.
Without that you have "kick-ass characters floating in an undefined space", and you can't really tell what's happening. Actually _YOU_ can tell, because you wrote/read the script, but your readers don't know that.
And details in the background are the thing that makes readers go "woow! Look at all these details! It's so impressive! Subscribe!"

And I hate bananas, and anything banana flavoured.

And I don't like very spicy things. I mean if you add too much pepper, all you can feel is pepper, so you could as well eat sevage with pepper and it would taste just the same, and I don't feel like eating sevage.
My father disagees though.

Hmm. Maybe a SAVAGE BEATINGTM may help you learn to appreciate spices and banana sweets.

There used to be a "how to draw trees" thread in the Technique Tips & Tricks section... but I think it was wiped out in the latest Great Forum Disaster.

If I could remember who posted the tutorial, I'd ask nicely for them to post it again... it was most helpful. Alas...

Savage Beating eh? I've heard it has many uses actually, one of man's greatest inventions supposedly!

Mmm.. tuna casserole, it's been so long since I've had that.

You know the last time I really had sweets was several years ago, I guess I settle more with chips. :P All this talk of food is making me hungry none the less... heheh.

Hmm a tutorial on trees huh? That would be wonderful, trees seem to be the hardest for me, I was working on the first tree on my comic for several hours, and that was the final product, heheh. But it would be awsome if the tutorial could be found.

But yes, the webcomics as a whole may help me improve my skills as a whole. :D

And man I'm tired of spicy things. I'm Thai, so I eat hot and spicy things way too often. :P

What about "How to draw grass"? It's amazing how many artists out there can't draw grass!

I remember that, basicaly it sounded like this:

1) draw the trunk.
2) draw some branches- random lenghts, and directions
3) draw some branches from branches, and so on.
4) at the end of each branch draw a blob
5) erase the parts of branches that should be obscured by the blobs.
6) darken the blobs that are inside the tree, or behind it.
7) add leaves texture to the blobs.

of course every step was documented with images, but these I don't have.
