nationwide server spaz-outs

Post by Dragonsong12 »

A'ight, my roomie's job (yes, she gets paid for this) is to look up news stories and send them to her boss. While doing this, she came across an article about a virus that's gone across the country crashing servers everywhere. (banks, corporations, webcomic servers :))

...perhaps we should give some credit to keenspace...I mean, I bet they're going through a LOT to get everything up and going again, and if this virus is what did it, then they're doing all this work, and they didn't even screw up to begin with...

...just thought I'd give y'all the heads up :)

Actually, this virus was one of the main causes of the 1000-odd lost accounts, if I remember correctly. But I agree that the keenadmins should be praised for their actions above and beyond the call of duty

Give them credit for what? Doing there JOB? :o

Seriously, keenspace is free to us, but they ARE making money off of this.

If they can't get there systems working, they get no ad revenue. So yes, let's all thank them for doing what's in their own best interest while continuing to fail to follow through on the rest of their end of the bargain.

By that, I mean, no new accounts have been successfully created for quite some time. The servers are continually glitchy (espescially the forums) something those with broadband often forget. And god forbid you ask them for something. I've asked for one damned thing from them the entire time I've been associated with them and that's for moderator status on my account. But since I don't always have access to the crap that is my former log-in due to keen's quality, I have to put up with trolls and assclowns in my forum.

So yes, I'm bitter. Yes it's free, but anyone even marginally serious about their comic has GOT to be annoyed with the continual lack of consistency. What is the cost of annoyed readers? So yes, I'm still leaving at the earliest I can afford it.

i think they should've been getting praised even if they'd known about and let the sites get toasted. as is always being said, it's a bad-assed service for free

Even if it was their job, the admins put in a lot of overtime, instead of saying "Well, it's 5pm, time to stop". And they are working to get everything back up and running. I still say we give a big kudos out, because it's free, unlimited bandwidth, and account space, and the sense of community is something you'd never find on angelfire or geocities. (I like the community part. I've made tons of online friends! ^^)

So...

Thanks admins! ^__^

Let's give the Keenspace admin a gift for their work. Like the bullet-riddled corpses of JJ and KK! Use them as a coat rack, a fashion display, a food source, or just a conversation starter!

I know I want one.

Well, I just wish my keen account had gotten deleted with those other thousand or so, because I'm sick and tired of waiting to be able to use it, and I quit. I'm gettin' my own domain.

And, uh, yeah, kudoes to those hardworking people down at wherever. Keep up the good...uh...yeah.

Sorry, I'm just a bit tired right now and not in the mood to be giving kudoes. *gives out chocolate covered grasshoppers instead*

I'd like to thank the Keenadmins for the superb work during the crisistime! Both of my Keen accounts survived untouched. That's right, both comicarchives intact.

Reminds me of something my old C.O. used to always say. "Stupidity and Sympathy fall between Shit and Syphallis in the dictionary."
