We here don't have much occations to see some adult anime (that's manga animated films, right?) I mean, some other than Pokemon and Dragonball. Movie distributors ignore it, as well as TV stations, and I don't have a video.
So, while I was with my folks for christmass I had an oportunity to see one 'cause they have satelite dish.
Well, you see, in 75% scenes in the film there is at least one panty shot. Really. I counted, you know: Panty shot, panty shot, panty shot, gro-plan.
Now I know that's a kind of floating mothive in manga but too much is too much:
1. Story had nothin to do with adult. It was an ordinary evil "superheroes vs good superheroes" story, and actually everything seemed like children film, excluding panty shots. Well, and maybe a fey nude shots, but no full frontal and very rare.
2. Man! Until the end of movie, I was really bored! Annoying! Don't they know where to stop?
3. Sometimes, like when there's something exciting on the screen, when the whole universe is threatened to be destroyed, wiever is not really interested in watching girls knickers.
4. Man, the oportunitias they used to make pantie shots. Sometimes, when girl falls down on the ground in ultra-short skirt, it's natural to show her pants, well even if you toll some lower raccurs although they can be totally disfunctional and forced, but when the girl is sitting behind the table, and they are, instead of what's going on above the table, displaying what's under the table, that's really too much.
I think it was degrading for woman, and for anime too. I had a good laugh out of it but I'm also very confused.

The view of women I hear is slightly different over there, not that I know...

And you didn't say what Anime it was. Anime is a genre, you can't compare all documentarys on Big Brother alone...

Heh, the Panty Shot, damn ya' gotta' love it... It may be degrading to women, but hey I have no qualms with that! Ermm... Wait... that didn't come out right... No! Don't hurt me! Not the ears! Not the ears!

Damn straight its very different in the land of the Rising sun! I mean there is nudity in the lil kids in anime while here that kind of stuff is censored! I mean they have family baths and stuff.If you want to see blantant panty shots watch Agent Aika! There was a story there but the panties ruled the show. Apparently it didn't ruled with me. It was pretty boring and even worst I watched it dubbed!

There voice actors and actoresses are as big as Hollywood movie stars here ^_^ That's so damn cool!

See Najica Blitz Tactics! So many panty shots it's funny. For example, a sniper gets in position to take her shot.. so of course the camera is right between her legs looking up. And every time a girl is knocked unconsciouss, she falls in a position with her panties showing. I wanted to make a drinking game out of it, but I'd pass out before the commercial break.

Dude, you've just described almost every anime over there. I know, I lived there.

It was pretty rare for any anime to not have panty shots, nudity, bisexuality, etc. etc.

Even Dragonball had that kind of thing back in the day...

Actually the reason why anime have a misogynic culture to it is because of us. We have a misogynic society, and the Japanese just took it and made it into a new direction. I actually watched Hentai the other night with a few of my friends, and I have to say, it's an animated snuff rape film, and it just disgusted all of us, even for a porno.

Then we tried to keep our minds off of it by watching other anime, "Ninja Resurrection", "Moldiver", "Evangelion" and all these other ones, and they still were highly misogynic also.

The only anime that seems to actually have any clear respect towards women is Hayao Miyazaki's anime... however, to me, you can't compare something as cool as "Spirited Away" to something like "Dragon Ball Z". I remember Miyazaki himself saying that anime has a problem with being misogynic, and I'm happy that he breaks apart from it.

Ah yes, the legendary panty shots we always see in manga/anime or whatever the hell those Japanese thingamajigs are called, yes yes, the doctor shall go on.

Basically, I have to agree w/ you in general about the knicker shots, I've had more than enough of 'em while watching Sailor Moon (no, I didn't wanna watch it, I was dragged to do so by my cousins) and I'm not sure, but I saw it in Card Captor Sakura, but I can't remember.

Sheesh, one weird thing I wanna say is "It's just underwear!". Period. If they're so obsessed w/ it, why don't they just buy themselves a pair and run off?

Yeah, but from what I've seen Dragonball was all in a kids-won't-understand-the-dirty-jokes region. But it was taken from montenegrian national TV station. In Serbia, it still goes on, on one station that is known for showing kitch.

Panty shots ok, if a girl wears a dress as long as her knockers reach, she'll occationally display them to people around.
(let's ignore for a moment why would anyone wear that skirt, more, why would every single girl involved in story wear the same)
But, oh god... It's just too much! It's hilarious how they insist on that. If I had it taped, I'd give it to one of my friends who is a porn lover. I bet he would be bored in the middle of it.
