Does the Jap name "Takashi" have a meaning?
Does the Jap name "Takashi" have a meaning?
Hey all. Apart from being a Keenspace cartoonist, I also have a rock band. And it was named before I joined it, and it is called "Takashi". It is named after that little psychic kid in Akira. The one that almost blows up Tetsuo. He's the little dude in the beginning who is running around with a man (who gets shot to pieces).
So, I was wondering if it actually had a Japanese meaning? Like "Naota" means something like "Honesty".
Cheers! And have a happy new year!

I didn't like Akira either. Just cause it's anime, doesn't mean it's good! Then again, I didn't really like the eva movies either... so blah. Sue me. The series was good (cept for Shinji, the whiney bastard). You know what's a good movie? I can't think of a good anime movie. Oh! Spirited Away! I've only seen it in english and I still thought it was good!
And I liked the Inuyasha movie, but it was just an extended episode, so you'd only like it if you like the series. I want to change the world!

AKIRA ROCKS.
It is chock-full-o-goodness, and has set a standard for all anime to come. Blah, blah, fan-drool, blah.
Personally, I liked Vampire Hunterheffaloop wrote:And I liked the Inuyasha movie, but it was just an extended episode, so you'd only like it if you like the series. I want to change the world!

thanks Karlie.
Akira rocks, as does EVA! however, I've gone off Eva a bit...
I'm more drawn to another Gainax anime called "FLCL" or "Fooly Cooly" or "Furi Kuri" (the anime of many names) it rocks!! And serial experiments lain, thats just messed up...
as for my band, wanna buy some stuff? We'll have a website up soon. It's kinda influenced by Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, and a great japanese rock band called "The Pillows". The Pillows did the soundtracks for "FLCL". They are so good. So good, some people might possibly go and download some songs by the pillows such as "Advice", "Sleep Head", "Carnival", or "Ride on Shooting Star"... but I couldn't possibly condone such behaviour.
wanna buy some stuff? or look at the logo? http://www.cafeshops.com/takashiweb

Akira in the original Japanese is just dull and pretentious.
Akira dubbed into English is a freaking hoot to watch with a couple of cases of beer and a bunch of friends and to then MST the hell out of it. The voice acting is just so horrible that it makes it fun.
Granted the animation quality of Akira was top drawer for it's day. It really did a lot to advance the art of japanese animation. That's about all it did.

How can you say it's BORING?!
Nothing says fun like mutating teens who crush their lovers under tons of evolving flesh!
