Strollin' through the Guide.

Has anyone else ever just gone into the guide and looked at random comics? It's a real confidence booster, I assure you. You head out there and you run across comics with only 3 or four updates, or where the art is drastically different even between panels. Mind you, you also stand a good chance of running into a few choice comics that will make you feel like you're the worst artist in existance, but for the most part you'll spend your time being bored stiff with bad comics that the good ones you occasionally run into will be more of a mood brightener than a pride killer.
And if anyone comes in here with one of those "I'm one of those bad comics, please feel sorry for me," posts... well, I can't really do anything to you, but I will be genuinely irritated.

I would never shoot you, Saganaki, you read my comic and posted on my forum, which makes you immune to any shooting sprees I might ever have.
But yeah, I tried to look through the guide once, and gave up after I kept seeing cool ideas for comics that had one post that said "um, hiatus, don't know how long." Bleh.

It doesn't make me happy... all of that wasted space is probably one of the reasons I can't get my second account.
Then again, if the guide got cleaned out, where would 24 1/2 Water Street be? DAVE, DAMN YOU FOR LEAVING US!!!

i looked thru the guide a few times before it was updated, leaving me with no descriptions or anything of any comics and no indication of whether or not a comic was actually active other than looking at the dates... that was a pain, but I did find some good one, mostly by looking for cool names

But I didn't leave!
Okay, I know you were talking about tewntyfour (duh).... which reminds me of something. Anyone else find it odd at the number of Daves from Canada who frequent these boards... I mean there's me, Wiebe, Razi, twentyfour (back when he was around). I mean, what's the deal?

It's not surprising once you find out that every single Canadian is named Dave.
Dave Thomas, Dave Foley... all Canadians. Has something to do with Canada's top secret cloning projects...

Well, we do also have Franks up here...

That's just part of the coverup.

But, but...
everyone in Northern Ontario (all 13 of them) is named Frank. Even the girl (she's very popular)!
Name the source of that quote, and I'll lend you my dogsled for a month!

I get more hits from the guide than all my other refferers combined, it seems. Maybe because my comic starts with an "A", and is G rated. In my opinion, however, I'm probably one of those comics with bad art and no updates, so, uh.... sorry.

So nobody's going to shoot me in the face?
...Oh god, I just got "These are the Dave's I know" by Bruce McCollough stuck in my head. The torment that only a Canadian Dave would understand...
Please, please make it end... first "wone" and now "Some of us are Davids/but most of us are Daves/We all have our own hands/but we come from different moms..."

I'm scared... I had totally forgotten about the Dave Song. I was just kidding, but the more I think about it, the more it all falls into place. Canada=Daveland.

I know somebody who can quote practically every Kids in the Hall bit there ever was. I'm glad he's going to school far away from me.
But I had forgotten the Dave song...heh. I loved that. That show rocks. My fave one, though, was that opener with the people being chased by the zombies, and the "woman" kept taking off her shoes...that was a great bit.
Meh. Tangent. Ignore this post.

NO!!! I REFUSE!!
I always liked one of those particular installments from those recurring "Police" sketches they did from time to time. It was this one that started out with these two cops eating in this restaurant. One of them notices this group of guys at this table right across from them and says, "Hey, aren't those those guys that escaped from jail earlier today?" The crooks see that they've been noticed, and start rushing to finish eating WHILE HIDING BEHIND NEWSPAPERS WITH AN ARTICLE ABOUT THEM ON THE FRONT PAGE so they can make a getaway, while the cops ALSO rush to finish eating before they get up to go arrest the criminals. Then the waitress comes along and takes care of the criminals' bill first (I recall the criminals racing to calculate the tip as well). They run out of the restaurant, and after the cops pay their bill, they follow. Then both groups get in their cars, the crooks still slightly in the lead, and start a high-speed chase... to a gas station that's right next door. One guy from each car jumps out and starts to pump gas into his respective car, all the while staring directly at his competitor. Then they both run into the gas station to pay for the gas. The crook gets there first, and tries to find exact change while the policeman BEHIND HIM IN LINE hops up and down going, "Come on, hurry up!!"
Once they both make it to their cars, the criminals take off and the police continue pursuit... but they both go the speed limit of something like 30 MPH, until the crooks make it to the boarder and the police stop, get out, and say something to the effect of, "Damn shame. Looks like we lost another one."
That "Take Your God To The Park Day" one was pretty good, too. Especially the ending.
