I never read my own off the site once its up because I don't want to
alter my visit and page count.
I just pour over the archives saved on my harddrive.
A admit it. I like my own work.

I don't see anything wrong with looking at your own artwork, hell your line quality would suck if you drew with your eyes closed *buh-dum-CHING!* Thank you! Thank you! I'll be here all week!
But seriously, I used to run through my comic after I abandoned it just about every two months. I think once you have a pretty decent amount of comics behind you it's a little ego booster. When you feel like crap, look how much you've done so far, one more comic won't kill you... then just do that everyday until you finally crawl out of your slump... hell.. it took me 2 years of not doing my comic to get the balls to try again! But I kinda feel bad for the people who've been doing this for years now... what if they feel like going through their archives one day... then they're too busy reading to post for a few days. eep!
Okay, that's enough outta me, I got comics to finish

I don't like stopping by my comic too often for fear of inflating my visit count. I know nobody but me can see it, and I know the high visit count is a nice ego boost (heh heh), but I usually concern myself with dx/dy, not just x... that is, how it changes over time as opposed to one day's check.
Of course, all that goes out the window if I'm hammering kinks out of HTML and can't test it on my own computer because I need the tags to be parsed. Then I easily take over 90% of the hits in a day. :-)
As for plugs... Since my comic's quite new (Not even through the first plot yet), I mainly plug to my friends. I agree that you're better off with a few episodes first before mass-plugging your comic to The World(tm). Especially if yours is a plot-based comic, as opposed to something like a single-panel gag-a-day comic. The more complex your plots, the more you should have bulked up before plugging. Yet another entry in the list of 'Things I Should Have Realized Before I Did Them', but hey.
Have I rambled on too much yet? Stop me if I have. :-)

Stop it! No! I can't hear it! Aaaaaaah!
But,really,I don't mind if I visit my site for a vist every once and a while. Maybe I had a image error? How would I know if I don't check and see?

Nobody likes that annoying little red "X"'s on websites. But how would you know they're there if you don't check. It better if you check and add a visit, than if your readers can't see important images because of your mistakes. 8)
Besides,it'll make you feel better about your ratings. And with the way
some people are complaining about their hits, you all need it.

Well, whenever I make a minor change to something, I always power-check the site (check EVERY link, EVERY image, etc) to make sure nothing went boom. I say, nothing worse than seeing a <b>broken image</b> hanging around due to me forgetting to close the quotes on an img tag. :-)
But besides that, I kinda go on the theory that Autokeen knows what it's doing (Seems simple enough, a simple check for any changed file since last update and substitutions for appropriate tags, what could possibly go wrong? <b>(INSERT COMEDICALLY LARGE NAIVE SMILE HERE)</b>), and I leave it alone until I make changes of my own. Call it my gullible faith in cron jobs. I like cron jobs. And simple scripts. Am I enough off the point yet?
But yeah, since nobody else really sees the visit count, I can mentally subtract my visits from the total to get a good idea of how many (few) people stop by. And the ego boost is nice. :-)
