... I actually have a need for some opinions. Since my readership is still miniscule enough so that I can't quiz my fans I need YOU ::tries pitifully to look sorta like Uncle Sam on the old army recruiting posters::
I basically just started up my comic a couple of months ago and since it's inception I've been doing it entirely on the computer. However for the last week or two I've been trying to see if I could switch over to hand drawing then moving over to computer just for inking and text and such.
Anyway, here's where you come in. I included a preview with on of my strips on monday and I think the new style is an improvement over the old, but I need reassurance and opinions. So, I'm calling on you.
You can check out the strip at http://c316.keenspace.com/d/20011015.html
The character, Tess, who appears in the preview pic is also the subject of the strip so you can compare easily.
Any suggestions are absolutely welcome and I can take outright criticism too if it comes to that.
I now leave you to your regularly scheduled activities.
------------------

I would be pimping out my site shamelessly, but...

The new-look Tess is definitely the style that I would go for. If that style is the future of C316, then C316 will have a long future.
------------------

I agree with what has been said. The old style was not at all interesting. The new style is just better character design. If you can make the characters dynamically and make interesting panels your comic will be one to look out for.
------------------

Thanks, i need this. i sorta got to the point where i stabbed my sketchbook with my pencil. it was something of a bad art day
Ahpeegee - i hope your right about 316 having a long future. i've got enough story ideas bouncing about in the old noggin that they're starting to unionize
Fracturtle - specificity is overrated anyway
(come to think of it,is specificity even a word?)
Max Leibman - wow, "certifiable comic-book babe" you're gonna give me a big head, but you're entirely allowed to fantasize about ficticious characters, in fact, that's an order, cause i'd feel all lonely if nobody else did it
Brian Young - you definitely reinforced what caused me to think about making the switch in the first place. I look back at the old style and everything looks kinda non-descript and flat.
Thanks again, you're making me feel better about making the switch. It's taking soooooo long to get into the hand drawing groove. It's a good thing I had a big ol' lead on myself, it's getting eaten up now. As well, i've had a couple people tell me it changed the feel of the strip and the characters too much. however, i think that's what i want, since i wasn't really happy with it to begin with.
Incidently, i don't think i was entirely correct in assuming my audience would be useless. I took a look at my logs earlier and i got triple the hits and such the day that preview ran. i guess that says something.
as well, anybody got any ideas, suggestions, improvements, tips, tricks, or maybe ways to make photoshop jump through hoops?
Thanks again
------------------

Go with the new style. You went from a bland, ordinary cartoon chica, to a certifiable comic-book Babe.
Not that I'm fantasizing about fictitious characters, mind you. Oh, no, not me. No way.
------------------
