Wasn't gftp more of a Gnome thing? I would really like to work with more programs that have a Gtk-type user interface. So far, the only one I really work with is The GIMP (Windows port) but I have the impression that the UI would be easier to learn if it was applied consistently throughout the desktop.<P>Of course, that would mean steering clear of anything KDE even though that looks really slick. Sigh.... choices, choices.<P>------------------

all gnome programs run with xde and visa versa, all xwindows programs run with xde and visa versa.<P>they all correspond...but i thing that kde IS a little better with the desctop and pannel selection...

I think that Linux' great choice of user interfaces can become a weakness if your interest is primarily in getting non-geek work done. well, gimp is used for immage manipulation...<P>you can not do anything regular in it but if you want a nova efect in your comic or a 3d mustach, thats the program to go....not even photoshop can make a 3d mustach...<P>
however, for your purpose, you are right.....but the windows version gnome isnt as good as the linux version, which is simply outstanding, marverlous, meah,meah. <P>as for that connection......my 128 k modem goes up to 4 gigs a second transfer, but only in linux....<P>for windows, the max is only 54 k.....imagine how fast my T3 goes!
