John T. posted in a recent topic that April Fool's was becoming old hat. Now I can see why this is true, after all, swapping comics on April 1st has been a tradition for three years now. Everyone is expecting it to happen again. I'm still probably going to join in, after all, it's my first April Fools on the internet. But anyway, for those who still want to shock their readers, let me suggest this idea:
Have two comics for April Fools. The first comic you can upload regularly, and it can be your swap comic or whatever. Then, around 3:00 PM on April 1, you can upload a second comic (check tagtorial for information), which will be known as the "April Chaos Comic". This is a comic you will be drawing, but it will be completley breaking the rules of your comic strip. You can have characters getting killed, you can have characters changing their personality, you can draw in a different style; anything that will shock your readers, leaving them on a cliffhanger, and then go back to normal the next day. No explanation. I think this would be fun; it would be interesting to see what you guys come up with. All I ask is that you come up with something clean, since this was my idea. So how about it? One bonus comic that goes completley against the norm, shocking your readers, and then go back to normal. Fun indeed

I disagree with anyone that says it's "old hat" to swap strips for April fools' day. It could be considered the first real tradition at Keenspace/spot. I think it's a good idea. I would say however that it might be good to switch with someone that has a totally oposite style.- You know really surprise people!- I think the alternate timeline idea is cool too, like killing off charaters and such, do something shocking. I wouldn't want to stray too far off focus though...
------------------

It has been proposed on the various mail lists that have organized the first two april fools swaps to move it to Caroonists Day (May 5th) since it is a cool project but is hardly a surprise.
There's also a lot of other ideas floating around for April Fools - your is as good as any I've heard.
Although posting it sort of ruins the surprise doesn't it? :O
------------------

I'd say the first real tradition is talking about breaking up Keenspace.
------------------
