Come Back and do more 24wat st, or maybe something else. THere are probably 20-30 artists here who would give you a front page plug when you do. You'd have an instant readership bigger than all of us combined.
------------------
Like um read it eh!

OOOOOHHH Damonk, you don't like Calvin and Hobbes!?! Ouch.
Anyways, these guys are all right, twenty-four. Especially about the drawing for laughs and releasing tension from your head etc. It's a free server, and people love to draw. Even if it is an inside joke, at least those couple people are getting a kick out of it. The only problem with that would be if it was happening in Keenspot. That wouldn't be right.
How long were you in Keenspace? I'm finding that sometimes it doesn't really matter how great you are. If you don't involve yourself in meeting the others of keenspace, you may never be seen. There are some really tremendous cartoonists out there on the 'Space that haven't been seen. Before you start receiving, you have to give a little. I'm not saying that you give solely to receive, but you know what I mean. Let people know you're there.
Also you have to keep in mind that your comic was bi-weekly(I think you said that). I never really get hooked by one comic. If I find something I like, I usually spend time reading the entire archives. Doing bi-weekly for two months doesn't build a huge archive, not that bi-weekly is bad, but it will take a lot longer for fans to start catching on. Hell, I started doing monthly strips, so I should know.
As far as emails go, you should be proud of your three. That to me, sounds pretty normal. I say come back now!!!!! Update after January if you have to, but leave your old stuff up. Tell us it'll start again in January. This is what Gravity is doing. And wander the forums telling the comics that you like, "I like you".
Anyways, that's just what I think.
Pauly
------------------

I love keenspace. I like it more than keenspot. My experience (since mid-October) has been nothing but positive. People have been friendly, helpful, and, halleluja, lascivious on occasion. Sad though it may sound, this is the most fulfilling thing I've done in a long, long time. I want everyone to be a part of my fantasy life on keenspace. I am, however, genetically inclined to eschew prosletyzing (but not big words!) ... so each individual must find his or her own place, or places.
But just so you know, the buttheads are in the minority here, and that alone gives me warm fuzzies.
*snf* Okay, I'm done now. I think I'll go watch "Steel Magnolias" again.
------------------

Actually, I don't think anyone who STARTED on the Space has been Spotted yet, although it can only be a matter of time... but it would be VERY nice if a strip that was born and bred on the Space could be elevated to Spot status soon, just to prove that Keenspace does gestate, grow and breed good comics.
I agree that the Space is far too big, and that in many ways, some of the comics are a disgrace. And I've already found out that some cartoonists are just assholes who probably think they're the new Eight just because they're so rude and attitude-driven, but frankly, honey, aren't doing anything worthwhile. *ahem*.
Keenspace does an excellent job for those people who it is helping. However, it desperately needs a HUGE overhaul and revamp, like they did to the Keenspot front page. I think we need a default front page, because basically, what's up there now is more or less JUST for reference - it's not really very prepossessing, it looks clinical and official, it doesn't hint at the variety and richness of the Space. SOMETHING needs to be done.
Heck... theoretically, if someone came along and said they wanted to invite my strip to join a rival comic hosting service, and their publicity was even halfway as good as the Spot's publicity, I'd find it VERY hard to refuse. I feel I owe a lot to Keenspace and its creators, but I do think they need to, you know, work on making the Space more appealing to readers instead of presenting it as a mere "we host it, you do the rest" thing. Which is why I am following the Gear developments with GREAT interest.
Did I sound incoherent/ranty/uninformed/whatever? Oops. Sorry.
Mab

I haven't read all the posts here, but my take on all this is pretty much a mellow one. Basically, cartooning will never leave the cartoonist (ifn that's what you are)-
I'm not nervous at all jumping in the pool of aspiring and amatuer cartoonists, the more the merrier. Beyond posting here, I am also part of the WisenHeimer board, which you have to be invited to join. It's full of professional and syndicated comic artists. And you know what, it's great. Everyone there knows they are competing with each other, but everyone supports one another a great deal. Sure you'll have the occasional disagreement here on Kspace, but for the most part, it's a cool community. I have only been here for a few weeks and I can't wait to launch my strip on Jan 1st. I have recieved some e-mails from some of you saying that they're intimidated by my strip, which is flattering to me, but not the attitude to have. I have been doing this for a pretty long time, so it's like a second nature to me. If David chooses to not put his strip here, it's his perogative. When I see Dave's comments, I can relate to the frustration he shows, I was there at one time. But someone here stated that it might be better the second time around, and they were dead on. One of the first decisions, and tough of the toughest ones you will make before reaching a pro-level, will be when to quit!- I mean, you have to be honest with yourself. If you yourself are not happy with your strip then if you continue to do that strip it will ultimately evolve right before your eyes till you get the kinks out. And believe me if you see a problem, even the slightest, your audience will too. The big decision comes when you relaize that an idea you had just isn;t working, and this is the TRUE crossroads--Do you decide to keep beating a dead horse? Do you quit? Or do you try something new with a new slant and view, maybe even a new style?-- If you choose the last one, you are being honest with yourself, and you are on the road to a great career.-
Now those comments are not aimed at anyone specifically, I have never read Dave's strip or 95% of the other Kspacers. It's just genearl advice I have collected and utilized. Strip to Strip first. FIND your audience, do not expect them to find you....

New dropdown idea. "OLD SCHOOL" Keen.
Or at least have a Special week deadicated to Old Keenspace comics that are till updated after all this time.
I'm a 3 month old Keener.. so I'm HARDLY a newbie.. but I would still take part. As someone who's been a net user since my middle school years (I'm a post-grad now) I KNOW what it feels to be an "Old timer" admid a rush of new gold diggers. <IMG SRC="

I thought Liefeld was good when he first became popular. But after a while, his style just got really boring. It was if he was no longer improving, and was content with where he was. I think no matter how good you are, there is always room for improvement. So his career, in my opinion, has become a real disappointment. But maybe he will redeem himself one day.
Pauly
------------------
