Really. Some of the comics haven't updated in 2 months, and their respective pages have no explanation as to why. There's a lot of quitters in this here webcomic biz...
------------------

Deleting people's sites, even if they haven't been updated in a long time, isn't very nice. I know for a fact that _my_ comic hasn't been updated since school started (due to lack of scanner,) but I'm still doing it as soon as I can. If my site was erased spontaniously, I'd be right pissed off.
Anyway, Keenspace is exactly the same as--for example--Geocities. The only difference is that you get auto-updating and automatic archives as well as free hosting. So, just like Geocities, of course Keenspace is going to have a lot of crap sites on it. That's just the way it is with free sites.
We just have to live with it. I don't think I even had many referrals from the Keenspace list when it was still small anyway.
Later,

Alright everyone!!! Just wanted to say hi.HI! If there really are a lot of people who scan for new comics starting from A and going to Z than I'm $#%@ outta Luck. I'm New and my comic starts with a "U". I have about ten strips up so far, and a gallery of work for people to see. So swing on by and tell me what you think by signing the guestbook. Sorry that I am sorta self-promoting my site like some sort of vulture agent, but I think you guys would get a kick outta my stuff. Have Fun all!

------------------

Don't think of it as "lazy." Think of it as

A while ago when I first surfed into Keenspace, I left after the first few clicks because when I checked the Lists.. NONE Of the comics WERE comics! Just blank pages.
The only reason I came BACK was to be hosted.
PROPOSAL TIME!!
I KNOW I'm not the only one who's left Keenspace as a potential viewer due to picking a few random bad comics.
I propose..without oversteping bounds..
is that maybe after the gods of Keen create the site space and send out the password message.. they add a new line..
WHEN YOUR SITE IS READY. MESSAGE US AT THIS ADDRESS (list an alias)
When they reply back perhaps an automated system can then post up the site on the list.
That way only ACTIVE or at least at one time active (Mini-series) sites will be listed and no more "dead links" for those that go to Lists to find a new comic.
------------------

Yeah, Let's get something like a Big Panda portal working on Keenspace instead of the random list thingie...
But then, if you all remember this thread, I already {tongue in cheek} suggested a division method.

As I mentioned before--most of Keenspace is just comic SITES--without any actual comics--does anybody have any hard figures on how many COMICS there are?
Or is everybody just as lazy as me, and wants other people to take the time to find out...
------------------

I like the radio button idea. Let the reader decide how to sort thru the comics. And if we must classify them by genre, have the authors of the comics choose which genre, keeping in mind where readers will look.
(example) I work in a record shop. We put Stevie Ray Vaughan in "rock", even though many people say he should be in our "blues" section. The rationale: more people will look for him in "rock".
I dunno. Even a keyword search would be fun. But that random list--I can't even find the comics I read every day. That's frustrating.
------------------
