I'm from haverfordwest, which is a stone's throw from Pembrookshire on the east side. My dad's family still speak welsh quite a bit. but I'm rusty. but being in america I can say "Y dwyfr golywg ffowlyn" "The water looks like a chicken" and people think I'm exotic.

Google does "Literal translations" which are not really all that accurate in terms of actual usage. It doesn't really look at the meaning of the sentence your trying to convey. edrych for example does not fit in that sentence via context. it is a verb meaning to view or to "see" something. Golwg however refers to something's appearance.
